Hi everyone, I hope you are all having a great weekend.
Today our friends are comng over for lunch, so hopefully we will be able to have a BBQ. The weather here has been really rainy for the past few weeks, it certainly doesn't feel like summer!! I hope the rain holds off tomorrow though as we are taking the kids to the wild animal park for their end of term trip. I'm going to take my new camera and try to get some nice animal photos.

Slo How did your 1st turn at being lector go? I'm sure you did great!

Well better run, I need to hoover before my friends arrive, the cats are still malting and despite brushing them a lot there is cat hair everywhere!!!

It's a beautiful, beautiful day here in the Chicago area
I love love love laying out on a day like today
The girls and I are going to be the pool (me floating), and then we'll go to the fire dept picnic for a bite to eat, and then I'm going to come back and float What a glorious looking day!!!!!


Last night was a lot of fun with our friends over. Everyone brought something to eat - one brought pizza, one brought Hooters wings, one brought shrimp and dip, and we did all the munchies - it was all yummy!!! My girlfriend and I sat out in the hottub for awhile, without the girls, and it was very relaxing. The children were a little ticked off that we told them they couldn't join us, but they got over it


During the afternoon, I took the girls to the library - something I haven't done in forever (we never have time to go when it's open). I"m trying so hard to get Stephanie to read more, because she just doesn't like to read - which kills me, because I used to love reading at her age, and I still do today (even though I really haven't had time). I decided to read all 7 Chronicles of Narnia books, so I brought the first one home yesterday. The first one is The Lion, The Witch, and Wardrobe, and so far I'm just loving it. I read 1/2 the book yesterday, and I'm looking forward to finishing, and moving on to Prince Caspian. So far, the book is following the movie really well. There are some differences of course, but not much. So, I'll be reading that this afternoon while I"m laying out

After I read all 7 of those books, I'm going to move on to Harry Potter. I've never seen any of the movies, so I'll be going into that with a fresh perspective. Then after that - I will look forward to seeing the movies. After those movies, I'll be asking you all for advice on what books I should read next. I'm not that familiar with many authors, so I don't know what to read. I've read almost all the older Stephen King books, and I'm a little hesitatant to read his newer material, because I have read and heard that they aren't as good (ever since his terrible accident). I do like James Pattersons older books, and there are some of his books that I do want to read. So when I need some material I'll ask you guys, and hopefully you can help


Yesterday was my first time lectoring at church, and I was nervous. I did really good though, and I got many compliments from those that knew it was my first time. The next time will be alot easier now, so I'm glad my first time is over


Belle - I"m so excited to hear about the baby - hopefully he'll come soon If he doesn't come on his own, is the doctor going to induce your sister? I'm so glad I didn't have that done to me, but I know others that have.

Slo, I'm glad you got so many compliments at church. I sure wish we had a hot tub in our garden, although with the English weather we would probably use it for 1 week a year!! lol I too loved reading the Chronicles of Narnia as a child, although it is annoying me that Disney are making them out of order. The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe is actually book 2 and Prince Caspian book 4. I still have the box set from when I was a child, I can see it on my shelf now!
The correct order is:
1) The Magicians Nephew
2) The lion, the witch and the wardrobe
3) The horse and his boy
4) Prince Caspian
5) The voyage of the Dawn Treader
6) The silver chair
7) The last battle.

I love Harry Potter too, although I prefer the books to the film. The later films miss out so much of the books, the 3rd film had a completely different ending to the book!!

I'm here....and I'm fine.

So kids, I was in a car accident last night on the way home from work. Got hit by a red light running, DUI, hit and run dude. Rolled my car and I got up and walked away from the accident! SOMEONE was watching out for me, that's for sure. REMEMBER TO WEAR YOUR SEAT BELTS! The police did get the guy...he fled the car on foot but, I believe, walked back (I'm thinking in his state he panicked, then realized what he was doing.) I just have one bruise on my right hip area...from my seat buckle I think. Either that or my PassPorter flew around and hit me there.

I'm expecting I'll be pretty stiff tomorrow, that's for sure. Funny thing...my right hip and leg that had been bothering me all week....feels fine. I must have gotten a chiropractic adjustment in the tumble!

Today could be the day for dear nephew to finally make his debut. Sis went to the friday overnight to get some kind of treatment that was suppose to encourage him, but he was not ready. Mom said that Sis texted her that the doctors think it is almost time (Sat. or Sunday text). No word yet. Mom and Dad are extremely anxious and apparently checking their e-mails for updates. Mom want us to try to get a special souviner from Disney. I guess that she likes being a grandma-to-be.
I told her that I should lose x amount of weight first.

Yesterday was a beautiful day here, and it's going to be another one today.
The girls and I had a nice time in the pool, and then had a nice time at the fire dept picnic. We finally left when the kids got hosed down by a fireman with the actual fire hose (the kids loved it), and Katie became freezing wet. She became so upset, because she was so cold, that it was time to go. I kept telling her to go play with the other kids in the sun, and she'll dry off, but she didn't want to Oh well, that's just how she gets

OMG ibounce.. how are you feeling today??? Maybe ou wanna get things checked out just in case...

I went to urgent care on Friday and we took a set of spinal x-rays and I'm having an abdonimal ultrasound done tomorrow morning. All are 'just to be safe' procedures. I have a big bruise on my right side just above my waist, hence the decision to do the ultrasound to make sure everything is OK in there. I feel fine today, was sore and stiff Fri and Sat. Only things that ache now are the things that ached before!

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys, I had a great day today. We went to the zoo for our school trip and had a lot of fun feeding some of the animals. Plus I got to practice with my camera and took lots of photos. Plus I got lots of nice presents as well!!

ibouncetoo I hope your test results come back OK and I hope your aches go away soon!

NCBelle Any baby news? My nephew is going on his first ever vacation next weekend. He is flying to Australia to meet his Australian grandparents, Aunts and Uncles for the 1st time!! 24 hours on an aeroplane with a 5 month old!!

Slo How long do the girls have off for the summer?

Well I better go, I have some school work to do before tomorrow. I am trying to get my room ready for next year. Whilst I was out today my assistant for next year managed to get lots of the jobs done which was nice and I didn't expect her to do it all!!

I didn't get good news yesterday at work.
My highschool employee told me that her other job (of which I approved her getting for summer, because I didn't think it would be a big deal) told her that she had to choose either me or them When THEY hired her, they told her they would work around me (it's Jewel). She wanted to work only 1 day a week there during the school year, and then more when she is on breaks and next summer. THEY told her that they wouldn't do that, and that THEY won't guarantee her a job next summer, of which she wants, because THEY are promising her a position at a Jewel closest to her college.

Needless to say, I sorta flipped out when she told me this. I told her that she needs to make a decision and tell me tomorrow, because I need to start looking for a new employee. I also told her that she promised me that she would stay with me until she left for college, and how she is basically screwing me over by leaving, because I will literally be working every single second the store is open. I told her I wasn't happy Down deep, I know she is going to chose THEM, because they are going to give her work at college. So....it looks like my normal work schedule is not going to be happening anymore I'm not really mad at her, but I am furious with Jewel for putting a gun to her head . It's not like they are hurting for help. So we'll she what she says today.

**Stephanie is off school until August 21st (Katie's bday), and Katie will still be in daycare until next year.

Well guys, I gotta go jump in the shower, because this is an early day for us. Stephanie is going to the Shedd Aquarium with daycare, and I have an 8:02am Chamber function that I have to attend to.

Wally, that's FANTASTIC that you are so close to a 100 pound loss! I know you'd like to see that magic number, but your body might just be DONE, at least for now. Sometimes, in my long weight loss career, I've noticed the body has to stop and 'reset' before moving on to additional losses. (I don't like calling them plateaus ) When I get my raise this month, it's being allocated for going back to Weight Watchers. In less than two years I'm going to be 60...nothing I can do about that. But I don't HAVE to be 60 AND fat! Again, great job!

Slo, no I didn't have an ambulance ride. I didn't go to the hospital from the accident. Paramedics checked me out, said they'd take me if I wanted to go and suggested I go to my doctor/urgent care the next day to get checked out...so that's what I did.

Yeah I got a big number birthday in a few years too ... so I thought I could be better... and I did it ... I'm the same size I was in high school... but damn it - I want that 100!

Nephew has finally made his debut!

Connor was born today at 1:09 am...7lb15oz...20 inches.
Sis is having some issues (low blood pressure/passing out), but she is recovering okay. My parents are extremely excited that they are officially grandparents.

I'm so glad to be off today, so I can soak up the sun


My employee did choose Jewel, so now I'm praying that I find an employee soon. I"m not happy at all that this happened . I still can't believe that Jewel made her choose - that's so wrong!!!! Oh well, I'm not going to dwell on it, because there's nothing I can do about it. I told her the door is always open for her, and if something doesn't work out, to please come see me, and hopefully I can give her a job again. I also told her that I would use her for babysitting, because my girls adore her. She liked hereing that, because she felt bad about quitting, but Jewel is paying her so much more than what I'm paying her.


For all those that don't know from yesterday's post - Jewel is a large grocery chain. I realized after I posted that everyone might be on what Jewel was.


ibounce - I'm amazed that the ambulance company/FD didn't want to take you to the hospital. In my town, the FD never tells someone to not go, and the FD uses an ambulance company, and they always want people to go, because then they make money from that. I"m glad you weren't hurt enough to go

Wally - Continued good luck on your weight loss quest

Belle - Congratulations on becoming and Aunt!!!! I'm so glad your nephew is healthy, and I'll pray that your sister has a quick recovery Have you talked to your sister? How is she doing today?
