WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Excellent reviews! I loved all of the detail, as well as the family anecdotes. I can actually see my DGD turning her nose up at Mickey mac and cheese, and eating PB&J everywhere that mac and cheese does not resemble what expects. I cannot wait for my own birch beer, as I have not had any in years, and will remember the frunch for DH. Thank you for bringing Disney food a little closer. :goodvibes

Great reviews! Thanks!
Just a couple questions...

How was the cedar plank salmon? And is birch beer non-alcoholic? :confused3

Birch beer is a soft drink, not alcoholic. It is similar to root beer but the taste is somewhat different -- I would call it "lighter". The cedar plank salmon was excellent, cooked just right so it has that creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture.

How was the chocolate cake at AP? How were your wife's pot stickers?

The Valrhona Chocolate Cake was very different from a typical cake. I don't think it uses yeast, as it was not at all spongy. It also doesn't seem to have a lot of sugar, just enough to make it mildly sweet. It is on the dry side, not moist or sticky like fudge. Kind of like a bar of dark chocolate plus flour. But really delicious!

I don't recall what she said about the pot stickers. Let me get back to you on that.

BTW the title of the thread is a takeoff on the musical group "Jimmy Eat World". Never heard their music but I liked the name.

Erik, thanks for the detailed reviews. I had sort of ruled out Brown Derby but since your kids and mine are similar ages I will give it another look. And I too wonder why when you are one of the first to arrive in a empty restaurant you get the worst seats! It has become a pet peeve of mine.... grrrrr!

Thanks for the great reviews.

I have to tell you I loved the title of your thread. It was a cute play on words, I really like Jimmy eat World :)

Yet another thorough set of reviews, Erik. :sunny: Thanks for taking the time to record and post them.

Thank you for the reviews. We were in Artist Point the same night and time as you but seated on the oposite end from that large party!
We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Artist Point and I have to say that I didnt notice the bad taste of the water but I think that was because I squeezed my lemon in it!

Actually DW said she didn't notice it either. I think I just got a bad glass or something because it was quite noticeable to me. I really didn't think this was a regular feature of AP!

Great reviews! You've made me consider Sci-Fi, which has always attracted me for the setting but I'd been a bit scared off by food reviews. I think my family would like it though.

We love Kona too and will probably always visit it just to have an excuse to visit the Poly when we are not staying there.

A very enjoyable read! Thanks for taking time to write in such detail.

Hi, Erik! Thanks for the great reviews. We are going to try many of the places you described. One question - what is the current price for dinner at LTT? I was not sure if Deb had updated her price yet, and this was the one we were going to pay OOP - may change our minds.

At both LTT and GG the dinner price was $27.99 adults, $12.99 children. I'm sure at LTT because I have the receipt. I'm pretty sure the sign at GG said the same. Don't know what the current lunch price is.

thanks for the reviews!! We are staying at OLW soon and would like to try Olivia's!

Thanks for the great reviews! Going this weekend and I've ADRs at Sci Fi for lunch, Kona Cafe for dinner and le Cellier for dinner. Can't wait to compare!

thanks for the LTT review. we are going in 2 weeks and I was getting nervous about the ressie. I think my DS2 will eat the turkey, etc and will enjoy the characters, as it looks like there is more interaction here than at Chef Mickeys. :surfweb:

I assume you're talking about dinner. Dinner at LTT is OK, and the character interaction is pretty good there. The food could be better, but there's no reason to consider cancelling it unless you're uncomfortable with the high prices ($28 adults, $13 children).
