Epcot, what am I missing

Make sure you ride the boat ride in the Mexico pavillion. The one in Norway can be a little scary for your little one because they make it seem like you will go backwards down a big drop, but you don't (sorry to spoil the surprise).

Making the masks are free and fun. The passport is a one-time cost and is fun at each country. But we didn't do both during the same trip. We've done the masks during two trips, and the passport during a completely different trip.

My kids really enjoyed the Chinese acrobats show.

Journey Into the Imagination with Figment is a cute children's attraction in FW. Honey I Shrunk the Audience has mixed reviews from that age group because of a scary part.

EPCOT is aweseme!

American Adventure is a great show including listening to the singers beforehand. Just taking the time to go around to the countries and enjoy the food, shows (every country has some great shows) get the guide out and stop by each one to check it out.

The kids love making masks as we walk around.

There is also so much to do in FW too. It takes a while just to check out Innoventions E& W.

I don't know about the face-painting, DS was never interested in it.

For your DD, I think she would get alot out of the Kidcot stops (free, just look for the signs) or the Passport (I think it's about $8.00, could have gone up, we haven't done it in 6 years) The Passport has stickers for the child to affix & if she takes it to the shops in the different countries, they will sign it & write something in the native language of that country & translate it, as well as stamp it. When she finishes, she will get a button. We did both in one trip & it took us the entire day to complete our mission & we had to rush thru the last country or two.

The other thing I notice alot of younger kids seem to enjoy is dancing to the bands. Mo'rockin in Morocco seems to draw big crowds of dancing children, boys & girls alike.

There is also a drum circle thing at the Outpost that kids love to participate in.

The Chinese Acrobats are also a big thing for kids.

Have fun! I hope you discover the joys of Epcot that we love so much!

I do believe that the countries are the most satisfying aspect. However, with Soarin' now open, that is a wonderful thing to do as well.

Try to do all of what you can in the counties. However, I would avoid the ride in Norway, unless the line is short. I dont think that it is worth the wait.

And dont forget to stay for Illuminations!

:)

Epcot is my absolute favorite, We probably spend more time there then at any other park.

My DH and DS(11) love the rides at FW, especially TT, I cant wait to try Soarin (in 19 days !!!!).

I love Figment (even though its a little out dated) and Universe of Energy is great. I like the Land boat ride, and we always do Spaceship Earth a ton of times.

Then there is WS, which IMHO is the best. You can take a walk and be in several different countries rather quickly. We love England with the British Invasion (band that sings Beatle cover songs), Norway, because the Malstrom is fun, Mexico has a nice relaxing boat ride, American Experience is wonderful, and the food all over is terrific.

Spend a day at Epcot, I doubt you will be dissapointed.

Epcot has always been our favorite park. Our grandchildren on the last trip (3 & 5) loved going from country to country getting making their masks. They especially loved the gymnastics in China.

DH and I love the entertainment, food, and drink. Be sure to grab a schedule when you enter the park. We like to buy an adult beverage (champagne in France for me, beer in England for DH) and head over to England to listen to The British Invasion.

We also love Off Kilter in Canada, Mo' Rockin' in Morocco, the entertainers (not sure what else to call them!) in France, the tin toy museum in Japan, El Rio Del Tiempo, the table service restaurant, and the carved/painted spirit animals in Mexico, the Norway ride (I forget what it's called!), Soarin', the model train setup in Germany, an lots more!

We enjoy trying new restaurants and we spend a fair amount of time eating at Epcot. :earsgirl: The Food and Wine Festival is a can't-miss if you enjoy eating and drinking!

My dh and I love Epcot. I think it's just a slower park. You can stroll and enjoy the gardens and such. World Showcase is definitely the draw for us. Just slow down go to World Showcase, eat a little, shop a little, watch the different performers. It just wonderful!!

EPCOT has always been my family's favorite park. This time we are splurging and staying at BWI. We like to take our time and not rush. There's interactive stuff after Journey to Imagination (I still like standing on the squares and making the different sounds). Ellen's Universe of Energy is fun if your child is not afraid of dark and dinosaurs. I had to reassure my 4yr niece last June. She does not like any ride in the dark. We named all of the dinosaurs as we came to them. Living Seas has lots of room to explore and the Finding Nemo exhibit was good. WS is also great to walk around and check out.

EPCOT is my favorite park there. I am sorry that you don't like it very much. I love going and doing Journey Into Imagination with Figment, TT, MS, Living Seas, the Land, El Rio Del Tiempo, Maelstrom, Spaceship Earth, Body Wars, the American Advernture, and really everything else. If I didn't think that my DW and DS would kill me, I would spend all 5 days next week at EPCOT and MGM. I would just go back and forth. I am totally excited about doing Soarin'. Can't wait for that.

Heading down in 2 days to POP :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :rockband: :thewave: :jumping1:   ::MickeyMo

all these Epcot fans if anyone has ever heard of this. In the Birnbaum guide it says you can go on tours of some of the pavilions - Morocco and Norway, I think. They last about 20 minutes and the CM tells you things about the country and the pavilion? Anyone done this? Anyone know if this is still being offered? Is it worth doing? How about for kids? Would DS9 be bored out of his skull? I think it sounds interesting but I don't think I have ever seen it mentioned anywhere other than the guide book!

We were at WDW over Spring Break for 7 days. We spent 4 partial days trying to make it through EPCOT and still didn't do all there was to be done. My 9 yr old "absent-minded professor" son LOVED EPCOT. The cheese plate, desserts and coffee (yes there is GOOD coffee at the CS in France) were magnifique. The kids both thought Crush in the Living Seas was TOTALLY TUBULAR DUDE (I thought so too ;) ). They loved the rest of the Living Seas as well. The Land was closed when we were there and Soarin' wasn't open yet either. My son really loved the body section, they both thought Commando Cranium was a blast (and if you love the 80s especially you will love this one too). We saw the band Off Kilter in Canada, very fun. I can't even begin to mention all of the things to do at EPCOT.

Hey, what about the Kristos'?
They are amazing.

And the fountain? If we are anywhere near the fountain when it is time to go off, we will sit on the wall and wait for the show to start.

We spend probably 80 percent of our time in EPCOT, but it just my husband and myself. We love Figment and can go on that over and over.

A lot of times you will come across school groups down there as part of Disney Music Days. We have never been disappointed when we stopped to listen.

Soarin' is great.
The WS is great. We like to start up conversations with the CMs in the countries.

The miniature train in Germany.
The characters you normally do not see anywhere else.
And the music. Off Kilter rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is so much to see, give it a try.

I love the World Showcase, every time we go I always see something new. I will never get enough of it!! :goodvibes

ABSOLUTELY LOVE WORLD SHOWCASE!!! DH and I plan on spending LOTS of time there in August!

As for Future World, Living Seas/Turtle Talk is GREAT!! Soarin' GREAT!! Of course we love Spaceship Earth! Look for those talking water fountains!! ;)

It's just a GREAT park to spend time in. Stand at the edge of the lagoon and just look at all the BEAUTIFUL architecture!! AMAZING!!! I LOVE every minute spent in EPCOT!!! Don't get me started on the Flower and Garden Festival!!! Can't say it enough . . . BEAUTIFUL!!!
:cloud9:

We have been to WDW three times and each time we like Epcot better. We totally enjoyed the Land Pavillion, we have done Soarin many times at DCA so it so nice to have it at Epcot now as well. There is just so much to see at Epcot and we have barely scratched the surface of World Showcase. I kind of like the fact that this is a park we still have so much to see in. I love it when you first walk in, I love that music they are playing. I also love Spaceship Earth. We are going with my parents in October (their first trip to WDW) and I know they will love Epcot the most!

Epcot is my favorite park. We spend more time here during our trips than anywhere else!

My favorite park is World Showcase - we really like just strolling along and looking in all the shops, EATING, and tasting the different wines in each of the countries.

We also like Future World though. We usually do Spaceship Earth two or three times a day.

In general it's just a fun park to walk around and take in all the sites. We always vist WDW during the slowest times of the year so you don't have to fight huge crowds of people. I can see tha Epcot might not be quite as relaxing and pleasant when there are just mobs of people packed like sardines.

We usually find a nice bench and just sit and talk (and people watch - my favorite!) for quite awhile. I had to laugh when I got the most recent vacation planning video. The guy who keeps finding nice quiet benches is soooo us!!!!

We do Epcot in two half days each trip. We spend a morning at Future World and an evening doing WS and viewing Illuminations. I love to walk around the showcase and shop.

I think Epcot is something you really have to explore and give it a chance. On our very first trip we were done in under a day and thought it was neat, but that's about it.

Our second trip..we were done in about a half a day.

Our trip last month, I decided that I hadn't really given Epcot a fair shake and decided to REALLY see Epcot. We really took our time, ate a snack from each country, saw Miyuki in Japan...and we ended up doing 2 full days at Epcot. We love it!

Take your time and really see what Epcot has to offer...there just isn't any other place like it!

Are the snacks free? Someone mentioned there being little carts with things to try, but I wasn't sure if you had to pay for the stuff or not. We are a group of 5, so if we sampled food in each country, I'm guessing it would get pretty expensive.
