Hi, I've been reading this board for a while and I can't tell you how happy I am to have found it. :) We're planning on getting married at WDW in October 2007 doing a custom ceremony and we'd really like our ceremony at one of the Epcot Pavilions. Has anyone ever had a ceremony there that could share their experience? Specifically the UK or Japan? Thanks!

Well, if you can wait til May, you can see my pictures. Leif and I are getting married in the UK Rose Garden. It is in the back of the pavillion where the Beatles play. I have not seen anyone get married in Japan, but I will definately keep an eye out. The cool think about Japan, at least I think it is Japan, is the prayer temple. It is AMAZING!!! and the colors inside are so vibrant.

The one thing I will tell you is that there are amentities that Epcot does not have that the other locations may. There is not a place to get ready or freshen up. You have to use the public facilities. Hard if you want to keep everything a secret. Also, there is no cool place to be f you are going to have it in the summer,(ie I am going to hang out on the bus after all the guests are off) and Leif is going to hang out in the limo.

Also, they only do Epcot weddings after the park closes or opens. Let me know if you have specific questions that I can help you with!

Thank you so much! I can't wait to see your pictures!

We are planning on having the wedding before the world showcase opens and hoping for a lunch reception at the Living Seas. I'm not real concerned about keeping things secret, so that's fine. I do have a couple other questions, if you don't mind. What options do we have for music for the ceremony? Is it possible just to get some music played from a CD? Where are you having your rehearsal? Also, what back up locations do they offer in case of rain?

Thank you so much again for your help! We're hoping to go down this summer to meet with a sales manager. (Customs can talk with a sales manager starting 18 months prior, right?) But I'm too excited to wait! :)

We were told that for music if we wanted a CD, we would have to have a sound tech there. Honestly, it was almost as much as a string trio. I just decided to go with the quartet for music. I think it is going to add in a rich sound. I know it is kinda pricy but it is really going to be very nice. Just look at all of the options, and based on where you plan in the world showcase to have your wedding there could be pro's and con's to each side. You are able to do a rehearsal in Epcot, but it is the MORNING before. Not everyone is getting in that early, so we are going to have our rehearsal at another venue. I don't know where yet, they are going to let us know 30 days out. In case of rain, our backup is AAR. I love the feel of it. So even if it does rain I am not going to feel too poorly about the back up location. Make sure you really insist on the back up location that you want!

Since you're considering Epcot, there are photos of an Italy ceremony on the Internet: click here. It looks like the bride had a lovely wedding and reception (her reception was held inside the Atlantic Dance Hall on the boardwalk).

Thank you both so much for replying! :)

JonetteA, that's too bad that they won't let you pick where you have the rehearsal if it isn't at Epcot the morning before. We were kinda hoping that maybe somehow they'd let us do it at Animal Kingdom Lodge because that's where we got engaged. I know they probably wouldn't have anyway, but hey. Disney is about dreaming, right? :)

Janet2k, thanks for linking to those pictures. I hadn't found that site through all my searching! I also wanted to say I've read your report on your planning session and that was amazing! It sounded like a wonderful time. :)

Thank you both again. I really appreciate it.

You're welcome. I remembered those photos from years ago but it took me a bit of time to find them (since I couldn't remember the name of the bride & groom, I had to phrase my search in a specific manner). The bride really had some beautiful photos, and I especially loved her bridesmaid dresses, ~sigh.~

(PS Thank you for your kind words.)

i am sorry I was at work when I wrote this. We are having a rehearsal (right now Yacht Club Gazebo) but we can't have the rehearsal at the park location unless it is before the world showcase opens. Sorry to scare you!!!

Ah, okay. So you got to pick the spot for your rehearsal? Well maybe there's hope yet! Thank you again for your help. I can't wait to see your pictures!

thanks so much for listing the epcot wedding. I saw that one quite a while ago (it was actually made me want to get married in Epcot Italy) but have not been able to find them. I have added it to my favorites so I will not lose it and want to print it out.

Lpizzuro123, you’re welcome. I remember when I first saw those photos (and read the bride’s trip report). That was quite a few years ago. I considered having my vow renewal ceremony at Epcot’s Italy Pavilion, but decided not to. Why? Because I am so not a morning person! (Boy, is that ever an understatement.) My husband, however, could have held the ceremony there because he is a morning person. But he would have been standing at the altar alone. That’s not a good thing to do to the guests. ;)

Italy certainly is a gorgeous venue for an outdoor ceremony. Oh, so romantic, ~sigh.~ For those couples who choose that location (or the other gorgeous locations within Epcot), I know they’ll have some incredible memories (and some wonderful photos).
