Epcot- Universe of Energy

I make it a must do at least see this once per trip, more so for the nostalgic feeling of it from my childhood I suppose. It's still a good show for teaching the kids about the whole energy thing and all, but I wouldn't be totally disappointed if this shut down some day. That whole area next to Mission Space could use a swift kick in the butt (but that's for another thread!)

This is a must-do attraction for us. Ellen is cute, the movie is funny, and the dinos are interesting.

What is there NOT to like about this ride??? :confused3

Well, we did break down on it last year, had to be evacuated. It was handled extremely professionally - everyone knew what to do - due to the announcements made. There were no issues getting all of us out. Disney CMs deserve praise on this one! :thumbsup2

I recall enjoying the attraction in it's lat 80's/early 90's form, but I don't recall exactly what the show part was like. My DS9 and DS4 enjoy the ride-through part of the current form but aren't too hip on the Ellen part of the show. The enjoy it enough to want to ride it every trip though.

My 5 year old DS would REVOLT if we didn't do this ride every time we're at EPCOT. He thinks the preshow is funny, though admittedly doesn't "get" it all, he LOVES the dinosaurs, and talks about brain power for the rest of the trip. I'm with all of you who love this ride - hope OP gives it a try!

Definitely try it. Do you like any of the following?

* Dinosaurs
* Jeopardy
* Bill Nye the Science Guy
* Ellen DeGeneres

If so, consider it a must see. If not, it's still funny and includes impressive animatronics (if not as impressive as Dinosaur!), so give it a try! (But take a bathroom break first, and make sure young children are willing to sit or sleep through a ride that long).

I vaguely remember this ride from when I was younger because I thought the "moving theater" was so cool, but haven't been on it since then. I told DH we are definitely riding it this time...not telling him it's 37 minutes until we get on though ;)

It was closed on our first trip but last time when I was there with just DS, it was pouring rain outside and this attraction was open so we did it. I loved it and can't wait to take the rest of the family on it next time. It is outdated but the way it moves through the theater is awesome... very neat experience indeed (as is everything at Disney).:thumbsup2

I haven't done this is a long time probably 5 years. I do think it is a bit dated. It is worth seeing at least once. The dinosaur part is very cool.

It's definitely worth doing once if you have the time, but I agree with the crowd that says that it's dated (particularly the pre-show). The "Ellen" make-over was an improvement over the original video, but it's probably 10+ years old now and there's a diminishing return on the "cuteness" factor every time you see it.. and the attraction IS a giant "time suck".

I agree that every WDW attraction is worth seeing once... but I can say that in recent visits no one in our family has asked for a repeat performance of The Universe of Energy..

it is a must if you have never done it before esp on a very warm day! i hope you have went on The Land ride. :goodvibes

My family loves this ride! I have B/G 10 year old twins who rarely agree on anything, but they both like this one. I know its a long attraction, but it doesn't seem that long at all. We especially love the pre-show, but keep in mind we're a movie loving family. My kids also LOVE the Canada movie and quote it all the time.

I would say give it a shot and you might find you really like it. We always try to do something at the parks that we've never tried before. This past summer it was Country Bear Jamboree at MK. Talk about dated....there's 30 minutes I'll never get back. But, at least now I know that I don't like it.

I think it is worth trying, at least once. We enjoy it, but don't LOVE it. We usually go on it once a trip, but if we do happen to miss it, it is no big deal.

The Ding Dang? Stupid Judy? Classic!

This ride is a must do for me, *almost* every time. It is long, so I usually skip it on shorter trips (and then regret it once I get home). :sad2:

This is a must do at least once on our trips, mainly on a hot day when we are ready for a break. Nice place to sit and has air!

You know it's dated when Alex Trebek still has his mustache! Oh, and Jamie Lee Curtis doesn't look like "That Activia Lady." :upsidedow

It is long, but it doesn't seem long once you're in there. It's also a great place to sit down and take a rest, or let your little ones take a nap. Seriously! They'll probably like it, but if not, it's an excellent napping environment. :)

Definitely worth doing once, I just did it this week so I would not be curious about what I "missed". To me, it was OK and I probably would not ride it again unless it was hot/rain/need a nap. Someone else mentioned the sitch ride, think this one was better than that.

Even at 45 minutes you have to appreciate it for it's content. I mean, a 45 minute show that is included in your cost of admission with people in it like Ellen, Bill Nye, Alex Kebec (sp?), Jamie Lee Curtis and take some wild guesses about who (or possibly whom) is playing the part of Einstein. Add to that animatronic Dinosaurs, massive information about energy, a lot of funny dialog and a ride vehicle that only people that are spoiled rotten cannot appreciate (try seeing anything like it anyplace else). If your tired you get to sit for 45 minutes, dose if you want, enjoy the show if you want and stay in the cool air listening to Ellen's one liners. What's not to like about all that.:confused3

Trebek...back when he had the mustache! You know, on Jeopardy the other night he said it had been 10 years since he had one...I don't feel like I could be that old. ;)
