Just wondering from those who have done it.. what exactly do you do for the segway tour around EPCOT? What is the difference between the 1 hour and the 2 hour? Just wondering if it's anything special that is worth doing.

The 1 hour tour is just inside the training building riding around on the segway. The 2 hour tour spends the first hour learning to ride the segway in the training building and the 2nd hour riding around the world showcase before it opens to the public. You ride through the countries following the guide and get told some info about the buildings. Plus you get some photo oportunities whilst no one else is around.

We are doing the 2 hour tour in a few weeks time and can't wait. From the reports I have read and the pictures I have seen it looks such fun and well worth the money.

Yes...the Segway tour is fantastic. My wife and I took the tour last December. The first hour is spent inside a "training room". You learn how the thing operates and you get to learn how to ride it. You practice going around cones and up and down inclines. Then, after a restroom break, you go out and go all the way around the World Showcase. So nice to do something like this when there is no crowd.

The hardest part about learning to use it is keeping your balance. Everyone is used to a bicycle where the rider must maintain balance. This is totally different. It measures your body position and readjusts itself underneath you 100 times per second. So, if you are trying to balance it yourself, you will be actually fighting against it. Just relax and stand on it. Let it do all of the work.

The only other thing that you need to think about before you go is the physical strength in your legs. Although you are moving around, in reality, you are standing in the same spot for nearly two hours. (Try standing in one place in your living room and you'll soon realize how tired you get.) When you get comfortable with your Segway, you'll learn how to stand on one foot while you stretch the other leg. But, it is still difficult to do. The first thing that my wife and I did when we got off was go to that McDonald's french fry place near Canada, ordered a couple of large fries and a coke...and SAT DOWN and RESTED.

With all that being said, it was a lot of fun and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Have fun!

The tour is absolutely brilliant!

I had the most difficult time in my entire group and still had a good time. Everyone else in the group wished we had longer with them (I was about ready to be done though- lol- I, however, am not very coordinated!) For my three companions, it was defiitely the highlight of the trip!

More than half of our class were people doing the tour for a second time! That has got to tell you something!

Yes, it's special and most definitely worth doing! The Segway Tour (2 hour one) was one of the highlights of our recent trip and I'm sure we will be doing it again. We all want Santa to bring us Segways now! :teeth:

Definately well worth the money. Don't forget, you can get discounts for being a AAA member and also a Disney Visa cardmember. Can't wait to do it again! :moped:

I did this with my son just over a week ago - it was SO MUCH FUN! At first I was very worried that I'd never master the Segway thing. I just couldn't seem to get the hang of it at first - it really is different from almost anything else. My son (who is 21) caught on very quickly and was literally riding in circles around me! One thing that helped was they lowered my handlebars - they had lowered it a bit, but then when I was having so much trouble they lowered it even more, and that really helped. Anyway, in the end I caught on and just in time - we were heading outdoors!

You don't get tons of information about the buildings on this tour, although your guide does give you some interesting information. It is just fun to be moving around the buildings and seeing things from a different point of view.

And of course it is very cool at the end when guests are arriving at World Showcase and everyone looks so impressed as you zip around, turning and stopping on a dime. You just know they're all jealous!
