We have 102 days until we leave (not that i'm counting):rotfl: Looking over emh and comparing it to fast passes, it seems that spaceship earth is the only ride that is open emh that does not have a fast pass. We did not go on it last time as the wait time was over 3 hours. What is this ride about? We are trying to go on rides during emh that do not have FP, but I am not sure about this one.

space ship earth is the history of human communication. as told by Dame Judy Dench. you spin way up high, then drop down backward.

AM EMH-
Soarin', Test Track, Mission: SPACE, offer FP (sometimes Livin' with the Land.)

PM EMH-
Soarin', Test Track, Mission: SPACE, and Maelstrom (Norway) offer FP (sometimes Livin' with the Land.)

Spaceship Earth should not need a FP next time you are there.

Spaceship Earth is a slow-moving "dark ride" that tells the history of communications on planet Earth.

three hour line for spaceship earth??? wow.. its usually a walk on!

Especially now that it's "new" again... if you attempt to ride it at certain "key times" when a lot of guests are entering Epcot, it CAN get clogged pretty deep.

Spaceship Earth has the distinction of being the ONLY major attraction at WDW with its entrance positioned where guests must pass it on their way from the front gate into the park.

(Sort of a "Welcoming Attraction.")

Many guests, as they approach, see other guests standing in the queue(s) and think that they MUST ride it NOW (as they come to it.)

At all other parks, there is no "first" attraction that guests MUST pass to go into the park, proper.
They may arbitrarily turn and go in a multitude of directions (towards various attractions) as they get into the park proper.

I'm not counting "Main Street U.S.A." or the "Oasis" at DAK as a "major attraction" which do not have formal "queues" for guests.
(And, guests must make a conscience decision to know to go up to board the MK's WDW Railroad.)

Interesting that Epcot is the only park with this kind of attraction "positioning."

They must not have thought it was such a good idea, as the two parks built since Epcot do not have this kind of design.

Not entirely true...MGM had one, until they but a giant freaking hat in fromt of it!:wizard:

It's the ride. It's so classic disney with the animatronics! I love this ride, and I think the new one holds the spirit, although I miss jeremy irons.

Go on it! You're totally missing out

I know that you're only half-serious, but The Great Movie Ride is far from being the attraction that you "must pass" on your way into DHS.

In fact, most guests turn right at Sunset Blvd. first-thing and walk toward the major thrillers of DHS (ToT & RnRC) before they come close to GMR.

Even before they built ToT & RnRC, guests could turn left... going towards Indy Stunt or turn right... into the Animation Courtyard without passing GMR.

:) As I sit here I can hear Cronkite - too bad that's not the way it is at Epcot any more! Oh well...

I should point out, we were there on Christmas eve, so maybe because of the huge holiday crowds, along with the fact that it was suppose to be shut down, had everyone wondering what the new ride would look like. I think we are going to try it, but not give up riding something else during emh. we are only doing emh in the am hours, and when we went last time, we were able to do everything that the kids wanted except test track and soarin. thanks for all the info everyone!
