im heading down to disney in a couple weeks and epcot is my 1st stop (after downtown disney). My question to all of you is this:

What can you get at the world showcase for scrapbooks? I saw once on the boards here that someone suggested money from the different countries, but what else???

I'm completley clueless as to what the world showcase has to offer for any ideas when it comes to scrapbooking, as this is my 1st time in epcot since i was 5 (and if you ask me what i remember, i will say nothing.lol)

I'm thinking about taking some pictures of my friend and i in the hats from the different countries, or trying the food from different countires... but i need page embelishments!!! and im driving myself nuts with the possibilites. lol

so needless to say, any help you wonderful disboarders can give me is beyond appreciated!!!

thank you soooo much!

I have seen layouts with some of the quotes from signs or things around Epcot. I would suggest taking pictures of everything in the countries. Even if you wouldn't normally do so. I like pictures of signs, plaques or dedication things. You can crop the pics down and use those as embellishments. You could also use the name of each country as the heading. My favorite pages from Epcot in the past included a sticker of the flag of the country. Cut the letters out of a different color cardstock.

Have a great trip

awesome pages! thanks for sharing!

I did get a couple of ideas... i guess i will have to wait til i get down there to see everything and come up with my ideas!

i've been trying to collect things since i found out we are going at my LSS's and i probably spent way over 400 bucks on scrapbook supplies... and im bringing another, oh... 300 or so to disney with me.

that's not even including picture developing....

There are a lot of beautiful picture spots.. OMG! I could spend hours taking pictures at each place.. You can buy a package for about 10-12 dollars of postcards (one of each pavillion). I also bought flags from each country and incorporated them into each of my pages for that pavillion!! I did also buy the package of coins too.

My kids collected the masks and trinkets from each pavillion. DH and I collected and extra mask and trinkets to include in our scrapbook. I have the list of each trinket that belongs to each country.

Have a great time!!!

An idea I saw (sorry I forgot who posted it!) was to take tags and have them stamped in each country where they do the passport.

I am definitely going to do that! I even ordered a the new QK tag that came out today so that I have special tags to take!

lol i know i suggested that to someone a while ago, but i've also seen other people suggest that too... i love that idea.

If you just go up to a CM and hand them a tag and ask them politely to stamp it and write you a message in their native language, will they? or do you have to have a certain message you want them to write?

and what is the best place to do that? Do all places in the countries have the stamps or is it only the kidcot stations?

Maybe it was my thread you saw? I had asked if anyone had done this, got just a few responses. I just went in August and took a bag of tags and a "passport" book (Jolee's, I think) and had each Kidcot station stamp both a tag and the passport. I was delighted that the CM's in China and Japan also offered to write our names in Chinese/Japanese. When having them stamp the tags, just make sure they stamp it with the orientation you want. Everyone except the CM from Norway stamped the tag with the hole on the top (like I wanted). The CM from Norway stamped it with the hole on the bottom.

Even though I had a child with me (who stopped at every station), I'm sure they would be more than happy to stamp what you bring if you asked them (even if you don't have a young child with you). One thing to keep in mind is that all the stamps are Mickey Mouse - kind of stands out on my layouts (everything else is so regional, for lack of a better word).

I second the pressed penny idea, too. Nice and inexpensive.

They also sell the packaged embellishments in the stores (bought the one for Mexico and Norway as they look just like the buildings!)... but they add up!

Thanks for letting us know. I am so glad that they did what you asked. DD and I want to visit each country in depth, so we will be doing Epcot twice.

About how big are the stamps they used? My new die might not be big enough! How big were your tags?

TIA

We did Epcot on two days, also... did about half the countrys one day and the other half the second.

I don't have it in front of me, but I'd say it's about an inch wide, and a little more than an inch tall. I bought two packages of multi-sized tags (I think from Wal Mart). I liked the smaller size tags better as the stamps fit on them nicely. I think I ran out of smaller tags and had to use two larger ones, but I didn't have a good plan beforehand, so they just stamped in an arbitrary location. I'm having a little harder time figuring out what to do with those. Another idea is to just have them stamp cardstock and then trim and affix to something else (like a larger self-made travel tag). The stamps are different colors, so pick a neutral (light) color.

Make sure you get some photos of each location! I realized I ran in and out of 'America' pretty quickly (late for reservation), and don't really have any good pictures to use. I have plenty of the other coutries, but not enough family shots... make sure you get some of those, too!

Where did you get the die cut (who makes it)? That would be nice to have, I'm sure... :)

Have fun!!!

Thanks, for all of the info! I was planning on beige for the tags or light blue.

I know about not having enough photos! I totally missed America and Akershus in the last visit. This time I will have more memory (and not only for the camera....) And DH wants to download the photos each night, just in case, so I should be able to snap as many as I want each day.

I use the QuicKutz die system and they just came out with a die that I just had to have. It is supposed to be a gift tag, but I can imagine all sorts of possibilities! It is wavy on one end and round on the other. I am waiting for it to arrive.

I haven't bought them myself, but I know I've seen sticker sets for each country. Don't know how much they were, though - might be very expensive to get a set, but a few of them might be helpful!

I have seen a package of stickers with 4 rolls in it that have 1 for each theme park. They might help with the smaller size stickers.

please could someone explain what this is all about? was thinkin of things i would be able to do with countries and this sounds fab!!
also what trinkets and masks?

Epcot has an activity for children who visit World Showcase that involves a free mask attached to a stick. There are about 2 or 3 different masks. The children can color them and in each country they visit they can get a stamp on the stick and a cut-out representing that country attached to the mask. Once they get all eleven, they get a free prize. When we went in 2005 it was a cheap lithograph of Disney Characters in Epcot, but to my daughter it was the ultimate gift.

I too bought a package of postcards representing each country. I also found some dimensional stickers at WDW for some of the countries. I got some for France, UK and Canada. Seems like I found these in Epcot ... maybe at the International Gateway gift shop. I have a fun picture of me in a huge sombrero. Also have some very pretty pics of flowers in different countries. Of course, I have a pic of an anole (lizard) because they are everywhere!
