Epcot or MGM on July 4th?

We're planning a short trip for July 4th weekend and will only have 3 park days - Fri, Sat, and Sun. We plan to do MK on Fri but I can't decide which park to do Sat and which to do on the 4th. I was thinking they both might be a little less crowded on Sat (than on the 4th) and that maybe we would be able to get more done at whichever park we do that day. Since Epcot is the bigger park maybe we should do it Sat. and save MGM for Sun. We don't try to do it all at MGM anyway because our DS isn't into thrill rides and our DD is too young for them. On the other hand, I've read that Epcot doesn't "feel" as crowded on the 4th as the other parks because it has more room for everyone to spread out. Any suggestions? TIA:)

Epcot on the 4th. It's twice the size of the Magic Kingdom, and its attractions are engineered for high capacities. Plus its got more restaurants than any other park. That helps it handle large crowds well.

Hope this helps!

Sincerely,

Len

Last year we did Epcot on the 4th and did not think it was that bad. We did not have any long waits for anything except Test Track, and we used Fast Pass for that anyways. Mission Space was only in soft openings and since I rode it earlier in the week I did not pay attention to the lines or if it opened on the 4th.

We had an early PS for San Angel Inn and not long after we finished dinner we headed over to MGM and it was packed. All we wanted to do was see the fireworks since Sorcery in the Sky only happens once or twice a year and we had seen the normal Illuminations a couple of nights before the 4th.

No matter where you go, if you want to eat a nice dinner make a PS as soon as possible since you could not get into any of the sit down restaurants without a PS that day and counter service can tend to be a wait with the crowds but it did not seem to bad. I don't recall wating long for lunch.

If you decide to park jump, ask a CM before you leave the first park if the park you are going to is filled to capacity. MGM was not when we arrived but it was busy and by the time the fireworks started it was packed.

One last note, stay away from MK on the 4th unless you plan to be there all day as it will most likely fill to capacity in the am sometime.

We did Epcot for the 4th a couple of years ago. It was a blast! We actually were able to get a PS at Rose and Crown for that night and stayed for the show...it was amazing and I would say the best place to view the fireworks. The crowds were a little heavy, but nothing a fastpass couldn't handle. They thinned out in the afternoon and picked up toward dinner time. Anywhere you go to dinner will need a PS, but it'll be a ton of fun!
