EPCOT Opening

We wre at Epcot this past Friday and got picked to be the Family of the Day. Anyone there that day?

They put us in a TestTrack car and drove us to where everyone was waiting to get in and announced our name and then drove us over to be first to ride testtrack. We went around 3 times and they gave us the picture they took. We then went upstairs to where there are some meeting rooms and could look through the glass to see the ride and had refreshments. Then they took us to mission space and took us to the control room for the kids to play with the control panel and ride it. We also got to be in the VIP section for the Illuminations viewing at night.

We COULD have actually been that family when we were there 2 weeks ago. The lady came to the gate where I was waiting (I was sitting on the bench to spare my legs), DH and my niece were STANDING in a nearby line. The CM came through and kept asking "family of 3, family of 3", I didn't say anything cuz the other two were in the nearby line and not right with me there, I was right up near the front and she passed right by me and had to go way back to the end of the line to find a family of 3. Thinking it over, I should have just spoken up and called the other 2 over. DH says he's glad I didn't since he'd have been "embarrassed". He's that type. Would have been neat for my niece though.

Do they only do this with families of 3?

We are a family of 4- so I don't think having 3 has anything to do with it. They dont' pick anyone until after you have gone through the ticket entrance part and walk up to where the rope drop is.
