Epcot NYE

The only issue all night was leaving the park and traffic on the way back to POFQ. Honestly, I don't think you can wait out the crowds. When we finally got on a bus at 2 am there was still very, very long lines for all the resorts. And then traffic on the way back was CRAZY. What was normally a 20 or so minute drive took over an hour, maybe more I can't remember. I think we all fell asleep on the bus.

We had an awesome bus experience last year when we left the park. We headed out to the buses at 1:30am and caught the bus back to our resort right away. We were in bed at POFQ by 2am. There was lots of car traffic at that time, but it didn't seem to affect the buses.

I couldn't agree with this more! We did Epcot for NYE last year and will be there again this year. I can't even fathom sitting in one spot to wait for fireworks for hours. To be honest, you would be missing out on what NYE at Epcot truly has to offer! There is absolutely NO need to have a "spot"...you will not miss it!

Last year we stayed at the Beach Club & will be checking in again tomorrow morning. This was the biggest key to success for us as we knew we did not want to fight the crowds afterwards. We have plans for a late breakfast at Ale & Compass Restaurant at the Yacht Club and than Disney Springs for a couple of hours. After we get back we will rest, shower, and get ready for the evening. We have a 6:30pm reservation at Cape May for dinner and will head to Epcot after. We did this last year and had the greatest experience. Staying at the resort for ADR's that day made things less hectic. We enjoyed all of the dance parties in the World Showcase and explored all of the different stages. We quickly realized that Italy was our favorite and stayed there for the majority of the evening. When it got closer to 11:40pm we moved out towards to water area of Italy and our view of the fireworks at midnight was great. It isn't like Illuminations so there is no need to see the ball etc. everything is in the sky! The show was incredible, magical, and perfect! After that we went back to the dance party in Italy until the park closed. Walking back to the resort was a breeze and made staying at Beach Club worth EVERY penny.

My advice would be to bring your patience, explore, and enjoy! While it's extremely busy it is also VERY organized and Disney does a great job at directing foot traffic and making sure the walkways are clear. We were pleasently surprised at how organized everything was.

Sounds like the perfect night! :worship:

Well the late night last night caught up- chose lunch in Disney springs with DD - then she had to go to work so we opted for a nap instead of fastpasses lol! Managed to change to 2 we were going to miss/missed to later and swapped one for FEA! Not sure how that one became available but I took it as we've not been on it!

Getting ready to head out soon...

DH has turned in to an old man! He's had to take a nap before we can go finish our night at Epcot. It wasn't long ago that he could stay up till all hours with no problem. Not any more. We'll head back over in about half an hour

Was at MK last night until 1:00... Could not make it for 1-3 am EMH. Took the boat to WL, easy peasy. Spent this morning at HS, crowds as expected. Hit our 3 fastpasses then headed to Poly and Ohana for 4:00 dinner. Back to WL via boats, watched 6:30 fireworks from Geyser Point. Headed out at 8:30 for our 10:40 Fireworks Desert Party Reservation at MK.

Some brief observations:

Very crowded (MK closed this afternoon, not sure which phase) but very manageable. Yesterday we rode all the mountains, Haunted Mansion, People Mover, Peter Pan, and Pirates. That is after arriving at MCO at 10:30 am and using DME to WL. We also had dinner at Rose and Crown, saw the 10:30 fireworks at Epcot and the midnight fireworks at MK.

Was not struck by a single stroller, was not slammed by any backpacks, waited no more than 15 minutes for any transportation, and saw one dog the entire two days. People have been smiling and very kind. CM's have been very nice. The monorails are all running efficiently. I am knocking on wood here but I wonder if many of those who post negative things just have unrealistic expectations, or they just like to complain about the small stuff.

Looking forward to a great night of fireworks at Magic Kingdom. Everyone stay safe and Happy New Year.

Fingers crossed about the weather for the rest of the week!

Unfortunately due to DH's nap we missed all the party favors
Ah pfft. Mine's an old grump now too LOL. Ask around--there might still be some at other locations! Post a pic or two if you can!! Happy early new year!

I just can't figure out when he became an old man. I know I'm not that old!

For those that aren't aware (which is most) he's 8 days older than me LOL

We took naps too!

I'm in a dark blue sparkly shirt with my 6'2" dh. We have the drinks from France with red glow cubes and a white string bag with sorcerer Mickey and lots of buttons on it. Also I have a proud parent my kid makes magic button on. Please say hi if by some miracle you see me among the ???60000 here!

Pro tip -leave stuff with other member of party to use restrooms outside IG at Epcot. No bags makes reentry a breeze and NO WAIT for women's restrooms!!

That's a great tip. Never would've thought of that! Post some crowd pics if you can!

Great idea. I go bagless all the time but I will remember using that bathroom next time. We were over in Italy and just powered through lines. Once I got in bathroom line when DH got in beer line. I finished first!

I am bummed I didn't get one of those red glow drinks in France. I think everyone else there did LOL

You can mobile order beer from the quick service restaurant at the America pavilion. No standing in line if you like Yuengling!

They were pretty good! Plus since they were covered bowls the drink didn't get sloshed out if someone bumped you.:)

Should add- as busy as it was by refreshing a couple times (I seriously didn't spend much time on phone, just random checks earlier in day) I snagged 2 FEA FP. So we went on the ride for first time. Wow is that ride way way way way overhyped (even for the Frozen obsessed!). We met Anna And Elsa too (no line) and we enjoyed that interaction far more than the ride. Actually DH and I met a few characters lol! No kids with us to whine about how they didn't want to meet characters
