wondering how the food at the restaurant in Germany is..my son wants to try it on our next trip, and wondering what it's like or other's experiences there. :)

I ate there for the first time and I thought it was decent. I'm sure you will hear lots of positive and negative opinions, but I would say that if you are willing to try something new, then just do it, I thought they had enough of a variety that anyone could find something to fill them up.

The food is consistently good and the show is entertaining. Worth a visit if you have never been. The only downfall I have with Biergarten is the seating - unless you are a party of 8, you will more than likely be seated with other guests. Sometimes this can be good, sometimes not.

It is a nice experience and always a good time when we go.

I think the food is surprisingly good; one of the better buffets at WDW.

had dinner last august my wife never had seen an oompah band
it was decent nothing great i would reco the ohana at the polynesian resort,
food was outstanding if you get the right seats you can see the fireworks at the magic kingdom.popcorn::

thanks for your responses! not sure my hubby and son would want to share a table..haha we'll have to see...last trip we ate in China and Italy (as far as Epcot goes) and thinking we'll try France, and not sure yet where else..maybe Italy again, as my son loooved his dessert there!;)

You don't have to interact if you don't want to -- but it's always possible you'll be seated with a lively, entertaining group.

At the very least, tho', you'll have free* access to some great food...

Several cold salads, including a sausage salad that's surprisingly refreshing...

Rolladen, sauerbraten, wursts with sauerkraut, roast pork... yum!

And...(wait for it!) GREAT DESSERTS!

Good wines and bier also available at additional cost...

And a very entertaining band with musical variety and audience participation. Wear your birthday button! Prosit!

*(free as in unfettered, not without cost...)

I lived on an army base in Germany when I was little and love German food. Wish we could get a good german place close to us. It is always on the list of places we eat every time. Normally we eat there the first night. The Pretzle bread, The spatzle, red cabbage and the salads are my favs. So can't wait to eat there.

does anyone else think Biergarten is tooooo loud? We have done it every year, but last year it was so loud in there that we could not really have A conversation at all. This was made even more awkward by the fact that we were seated with another family and it seemed rude not to 'make conversation.'. All of us were just glad to leave last year and no one wants to go again. Dh says maybe i am just an old fogie who doesnt like music playing anymore, but he wasn't actually there.

We had lunch there last year and loved it. Lots of great food choices and LOFF the pretzel bread. Perhaps lunch is quieter than dinner, but the band did play and we still had no problems talking together at the table.

If you are paying OOP, the lunch menu is nearly the same as dinner and costs significantly less.

I just hope they have Black Forest Cake this time around we ate there month and a half ago for lunch and no black forest!

I wasn't a big fan of sharing a table but the atmosphere and being the only german place you deal with it. I just don't understand why they can't make tables of 2 and 4's?

I think that they don't make tables of 2 or 4 because at the real beer houses in Germany, you are seated at long communal tables, and they were probably going for the "real experience." JMHO. I would like to sit by ourselves too, but I will gladly sit with another family just for the band and the yummy food.

We were there in January and had a wonderful family sit by us. At first it was a little wierd, but after a beer WHO CARES?! LOL!! We ended up taking pictures and dancing with them and were so sad to have to leave. I think we were there for over 2 hours!

It was one of my favorite experiences of the whole trip, but you get out what you put in, if that makes sense.

We ate there in July '09 and *loved* it. It was the only restaurant I was dreading, but I was more than pleasantly surprised. I think it might've been my favorite restaurant of the many we tried. In fact, we're going back in June, and it's the only restaurant that I'm truly looking forward to in terms of food.

It is one of the only places at Disney that is consistently good. There is a wide variety of food and desserts and if you like good beer there are some decent choices. Don't worry about sitting with other people. While I enjoy meeting new people and interacting with them you don't exactly sit there and have a deep meaningful conversation. Between eating, watching the band, and getting up to get food there isn't a lot of time for it anyway.

Both of my kids enjoy it here. The show makes it great and a beer makes sitting with strangers easier. The pretzel bread and red cabbage make this a must-do.

go to sommerfest if u get the chance. they have great brat's and nice big pretzel :)

We have a group of 9 going here in May- it's been on my son's list to try and I'm finally giving in!

Would you suggest asking for a table near the band or is any table fine?

Any table is fine, it really isn't that big of a place. They invite the kids onto the dance floor so if they want to get a closer look they can.

That was us too!!! Last week of October '10 for dinner we were there.

We (2 adults) like it! Variety of food (yum!!!) & you can eat as much as you want (then find a seat for the fireworks to digest). Our waiter was blah (he only brought our 1st round of drinks & disappeared), but the band & "show" was fun to watch. It's a very festive lively type environment.

I would agree when the band is playing it can be fairly loud. But the band doesn't play non-stop & I just enjoyed sitting back eating watching the surroundings without having to talk.

You will be seated with other people at the tables (unless your party is that big). We sat with 2 other groups. The other couple was pleasant & chatted a little while we sat. The other family of 4 didn't interact which was fine too.

Seating wise--if your son has been dying to go here & he's a bit of a "joiner" then he will love when they invite people on the dance floor. Many kids go up & dance around as well as some adult couples. He might like a table close to the dance floor.
