***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

It seems like PFTS is always on Saturdays, but then I've heard that there is no PFTS on the first Saturday this year, so who knows.

I really hope that doesn't turn out to be true. We're going to be there that weekend and we're hoping to do PFTS. So I'm crossing my fingers.

Interesting...and a good point about the price increase. Was the 1 nighter in 06 a sit down meal at least?

Webray makes a good point too. We didn't book anything last year b/c of the non-refundable 'clause'. With DH's job, it's never 100% guaranteed we are going away until we are on the plane (except for our honeymoon, b/c w/out that provision, then there wouldn't have been a honeymoon!

Yes, the new way they do the Sam Adams is a sit down meal. I like the apps they serve at the beginning best. The meal seemed to be very similar the two years we did attend.

Hubbys job is the same. We travel with a laptop, just in case, but things have happened at his work where we have had to cancel..he needed to stay.
They should at least have a reasonable cancellation policy.

We did the Int'l beer dinner 2 times when it was offered (04 and 05?) and we had a GREAT time! The food was very good, and it was a real bargain at that $55 price. I would love for them to bring those weekly ones back.

Apparently I had a mental block when I thought there was no beer dinner in 2007. I only did the event in 2004 and 2005, but it seems that webray did the 1-night event. I still think the $55 event the first couple years was a great bargain.

It's not like they probably won't fill the spot if you cancel. Someone will be waiting in line if it's sold out.

Like I posted before ... if you find something you like buy it, don't wait. I wanted one of the blue ladies F&W t-shirts last year and didn't buy it right away because I thought there would be plenty of time (we were there for 10 days). I went back five days later and they didn't have my size ... in fact the only size they had anywhere in the park was a small. And although I checked back every day they never seemed to have my size when I looked.
I know the shirt you're talking about, my mom and I each got one.

They already had sold out of a few things while we were there, and that was the first week. They still had a lot of shirts, but there was some wine, as well as a cookbook that sold out.

In 2006 they added some new events. Based on poor reviews of some of them the 1st & 2nd weekends a lot of people cancelled including us. Last year they instituted the no cancellation policy. Makes us less likely to book any untested events in the future. They ended up cancelling a new series last year I presume based on low interest in bookings fo the $$$ they were asking. Personally I wish they would add back the second day of Food & Wine pairings at some venues that they eliminated a few years back. Maybe some of us would have a shot at getting Le Cellier if they would offer it twice a week again.

I'm with Steve-O. After numerous disappointing signature dinners and regional feasts, we've decided the Exquisite Evenings and the V&A dinner are the only events we're going to bother with anymore. If they eliminate the Exquisite Evenings, I guess we'll look elsewhere for a vacation this year.

LOL, you are exactly right, and that is what some friends of ours did. They headed to the world on days of events they wanted and got into everything because there were quite a few no shows. They didn't book in advance either, because of the no cancel policy.

Was this last year? That's good to know in case we don't get the events that we want....

I have been gone a week and NO NEW YET?? Come on Disney!!! I was hoping I'd come back and see everyone discussing what they wanted to book! A girl can dream can't she?! ?! ;)

didn't you hear the news? Disney isn't going to release program details until 8/22 and they'll start taking reservations on 8/25. :scared1:

Wow! Umm??? No Brenda! Thank you for relaying the news so I wasn't searching all day tomorrow! I guess my computer didn't send all the updates!:confused3
WOW! The 22nd? What can I say that I'm sure hasn't already been said. That stinks! I'm happy we went ahead and did are ADR's!

Well -I know have more drinking money! ;) I guess it's off to the Bourbon Bar at Boardwalk and play Scrabble!

Subscribing.......

I've just got to find out about when we can start booking events!

Ok...don't get upset when I ask this (I didn't feel like reading all of the pages of this thread) but...

Can someone better explain these events that you have to wake up at the crack of dawn to reserve? How much does it cost? What do you do at them? (I'm talking Exquisite Evenings, and V&A and stuff)

We will be on our honeymoon from 9/18-9/30 and will hopefully get to experience at least 4 days of the F&W Festival.

Thanks!

Go over to http://allears.net/tp/ep/foodwine.htm

go down the left side of the page, and there's a section called:ALLEARS & READER REPORTS.

There are different reviews of events- hopefully there will be prices posted too.

We've gone for a few years now- and don't even plan meals because of the country kiosks around World Showcase Lagoon.

Have fun!
