***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

I don't buy the excuse about the guest chefs being one of the reasons F&W booking are going to be so late. Chefs have schedules and responsibilities, too. I'm sure they would like to know ahead. This is great publicity for them, and I'm sure they appreciate it, but they have other commitments, as well.

What would I buy? Disney is having a lot of trouble with their computer system. It may be that they aren't certain the have the capability to handle the crunch of all the calls with folks attempting to book. Hey, it's just a theory.

I can understand pushing the booking date back because of system issues if that's what happened, but it doesn't explain why they still couldn't release the program details and prices for us to consider while we wait to make those reservations.

My DW and I are going for the first time in October. I expect they will have a poster and a pin available with the logo if it's like the Flower and Garden festival that we have attended a couple of times.

Paul, they usually have several pins to choose from including some cool pin collector sets. A word of warning, if you see something you like buy it - don't wait. We missed out on some things because we waited until the end of our vacation and when we went back to spend money those items were gone gone gone! :scared1:

I have been lurknig for a while on this thread, figured I would finally join.

This will be our first F&W and my hubby and mine first trip alone. Our kids are 19 and 23 and we have always gone during summer of spring break.

Can't wait, we picked to go during F&W because we fugured it would be or could be a more "adult" trip. Although we are never too adult at disney, its one of hte reasons we love it so much!

We also plan to do MNSSHP one time during our 10 days we will be there.

Thanks for all the great info you guys have provided so far.

We will definitly be doing PFTS and maybe a sweet sunday and dinner thing too. I went ahead and made all my favorite ressie's at th 6 month mark and figured I will cancel anything I need to once the event calender for F&W comes out (of course with the exception of Cali Grill which we have provided a credit card number for and can't bear to miss the fireworks from there)

 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Hello! You will love F&W, especially if it's just you and your hubby! :thumbsup2

This thread is great. WE will be at WDW end Sept/beginninng Oct and are looking forward to the F&W :cool1:

I'm am very excited to see Jonny Lang. I'm actually surprised he's performing there because while he may not be widely known, he is a current artist. He is an amazing guitarist with an even more amazing voice, and he's only like 27 years old. He's on of my FI's favorite performers and the whole reason he is willing to get on a plane for the first time. So if you're there when he's performing (it's either the 7th and 8th or 8th and 9th) I highly recommend catching one of his sets.

Thanks for the tip...unfortunately during our dates (Oct 17-27) the lineup is especially lame (Jon Secada, the fake jazz of Spyo Gyra, Otis Day and Expose)...ugh!!!

Last year we actually saw Jon Secada and Expose and really enjoyed both of their concerts

Otis Day is great..... We are going 10/24-10/28 so I feel your pain with Expose

Think Animal House and the great SHOUT.

I can't wait to see Otis Day because of SHOUT!!! :cool1: I actually am a excited about seeing Expose also. I love ALL kinds of music. Though I really wish I would be there when Night Ranger and Los Lobos are there..oh well....I'm sure ALL of them will be fun to hear and see.:goodvibes

Hi everyone!!! :goodvibes Now that my Christmas vacation ADRs are all done, I can focus on planning our Halloween/F&W Festival trip! :hyper: I can't wait to go back. We had such a good time last year. ::yes:: Party for the Senses was amazing and we will definitely be going again this year - although, the $150 price tag, if that's really what it is, will certainly add up for us - x5! :scared1: It's still worth it to me... I just hope DH doesn't have a cow. LOL! :lmao:

Thanks for starting this thread, TDC! I can't wait until more info is released. I remember how agonizing it was last year to finally get the full schedule. Ugh. As soon as we do get more info, I'm going to update my handy-dandy rating cards for the World Showcase food booths that I made last year...

has anyone attended the Beer dinner the past 2 years? I am talking about the one that they have only held 1 time per Festival, in November I believe. We used to attend when they would have them weekly, alternating between Sam Adams and International beers (and the American pavillion and the UK one), but I am referring to the ones they have had last year and the year before that I believe are hosted by Sam Adams. If they offer it again, I am wondering if it is worth going to

DH and I attended 2 years ago and had a great time. Sam Adams is my favorite beer (which is no surprise considering we live so close to Boston.) There was just A LOT of food. I think that out of all of the Regional Feasts we have done, we walked out of this one feeling the most full. Could have been all the beer we drank as well.... :rotfl:

Just as in the wine dinners, when you finish with your beer, if they haven't moved on to the next one, your glass gets topped off. And since one tends to drink beer a little quicker than wine...well...you get the picture.

Plus you get Utopias for the dessert pairing.... :cool1:

We will probably attend again this year if it is offered when we are there....

Yes, there us usually a poster and pins available. Somedays you can even get the poster signed by the artist!

We have went two and three years ago, not last year, as we decided no booking events because of the no cancel policy. Heard it was a bit of a bust last year. Two previous years were pretty good.

I liked it best when they did it upstairs in the small room with app stations, serve yourself, very casual. That was the best.

I haven't gone to it since it became the Jim Koch Lovefest. I did the first International beer dinner they offered when it was done at Rose and Crown only. The price was $55. The dinner was a true bargain.

The following year, they alternated for the first time between International and Domestic (aka Sam Adams), and I attended one that fell on a Sam Adams week. It was still $55. That was the informal one that webray was talking about, upstairs in the VIP room at the American Adventure building. The buffet stations were great, and you had 5 beers to choose from.

The 1-night only Jim Koch Lovefest started the year after that, for $125. And the following year, another 1-night event with Jim was $145. I just can't imagine the $125 or $145 dinner would be worth it after experiencing the event at $55.

Since Jim did not return in 2007, I don't know if they'll even offer it. Anything possible, though. I wouldn't book it, though.

Jim was there in 2007. We didn't know about it until the day of the event when we did the Sam Adams beer tasting. It was of course sold out so we coulnd't attend.

Thursday, November 8* A New England Brewers Tale – An Evening with Jim Koch
* The dinner will be held in The American Adventure Pavilion

We did the informal Sam Adams one in the American Adventure pavilion as well, and DH and I both absolutely loved it. I think it was $60 each when we went and definitely worth every penny. DH wasn't sure if he wanted to do it, but from the second we got off the elevator and the server in a tux held out a tray of beer with the words' "Your beer, sir?" he was in heaven. :cool1:

Been there - done that - or should I say - been there did not do that and do not have the t-shirt, mug, receipe book etc to show for it...

My DW and I will be there while Otis Day performs, too, but is it the SAME Otis Day as in Animal House? That movie is 30 years old! :scared1: If it is the same guy, he must be as old as Mick Jagger. ;)

We are not really excited about the entertainment either, but really looking forward to the food. :goodvibes
