Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald takes over the creative direction of epcot according to wdwmagic. he wants to re store the originally intent for the park in both Future world and world showcase. What do you guys think this could mean for epcot down the road? new attractions countries? we can hope right:goodvibes

Time will tell.

Much as I'd love to see some new attractions at Epcot (we really need them with FP+ !!) I can't bear to think of all the closures and construction walls. I would prefer if they finish one park first or at least do it in sections. Construction walls are almost part of the furniture as of the last 5 years.

I would agree about the walls if I was a once in a lifetime visitor. As a somewhat yearly visitor, I'd rather get it all over with as soon as possible.

Imagineers are great at what they do. They can come up with all of the most awesome ideas you could possibly imagine (and many you couldn't imagine). Unfortunately, if the finance guys don't sign off on a project it remains on the shelf.

Hopefully he can breathe some new life into Future World.

I'm actually okay with World Showcase as is.

Epcot really needs something, anything, done to it that is an addition, not a change.

World Showcase doesn't need it IMO, Future World desperately does. Wonders of Life building is ready for the taking...

They need to bring back some of the live entertainment that they have gotten rid of over the past few years.

Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Hopefully it means EPCOT will return to just that. And won't seem like it's still living in the 80s.

Here's hoping he can bring some fresh ideas into a stagnant park. I half-expect to see tumbleweeds rolling through sometimes.

I was going to post a list of personal requests, but there's no way in hell most of them would ever happen, like moving Soarin' out of The Land and taking Nemo out of The Living Seas.

The thing about Epcot is they can put in new attractions without closing anything at the moment. They can use the Wonders of Life pavillion for startrs. Get that up and running, then close sometng else for an overhaul. This would create a miimal impact on the number of attractions. We all know Epcot can't afford to lose any.

If people think FP+ and Anna/Elsa discussion is bad, just wait to see what happens if Disney decided to overhaul a current attraction at Epcot instead of building something new popcorn::

Epcot can barely afford to lose Universe of Energy or the World Showcase movies.

I went to Google maps and looked at the satellite view of EPCOT to see if there were any areas for expansion.

According to Google, World of Motion is currently in the center of EPCOT and it's an auto parts store.

LOL maybe you have seen the vision of the future.

I would be supportive if this means the attractions and exhibits will again showcase the FUTURE in FUTUREWorld, and CULTURE in World Showcase. And return the educational elements. And rebuild Horizons. Is that asking too much?

:thumbsup2I so hope so! I was looking at the entertainment schedule we received from our first trip in 1987. There are now less than half the live entertainment acts as there were then.

Returning Future World to the future would be awesome. There is so much they could/should do to put this place back into the spirit that was intended for it. I love World Showcase but would like more culture and less shopping really and perhaps a couple of really interesting countries. An African country would be good. And India.

Well, Epcot has lots of empty buildings available to use, so I think they could make a very discrete construction process without all the construction walls and such. Let's hope.

I'm just very positive that this means a brand new era for Epcot :) I really hope to be right.

FW can use a lot upgrades but I think WS is perfect unless they add some new countries but I don't know where they would go.
