Hi,
Last time I was in Epcot (about 6 years ago) we saw some performers in WS that we loved - they were three...puppeteers, I guess you would call them, on stilts and "riding" giant birds made out of all kinds of weird materials. They would control the birds with the reins, and often would sneak up and nibble on unsuspecting people. We watched them for the longest time and are one of the most memorable performances we saw. Are they still at WS? If so, what are they called and are they listed in the times guide? I'd love to track them down again when we're there in Dec.
Thanks!!

They're called Cirikli, but unfortunatly they no longer do any shows at EPCOT. They were over at AK when it first opened, but they stopped doing shows there a few years ago as well.

Weren't they fun to watch?

I wish Epcot would stop with the "character" stuff and do more of the creative, imaginitive entertainment. It seems in the last few years that part of Epcot has gone by the wayside.

I'm guessing from budget cuts or something?

oh, too bad, the were so cool and i was really looking forward to seeing them again. i do agree that disney should balance out the character stuff with the more "artsy" performances (i love the characters too, but come on, the birds were so cool!). hey, if those bird costumes are still sitting around, i don't mind starting up the show again :p - although i do tend to be a clutz, so stilts may not be such a good idea :crazy2:
thanks for the replies!!

It was because they cut the entertainment budget to put in Tapestry of Nations. The characters were also greatly reduced when they started the parade and are still reduced from the same levels they were before the parade started.

As for artsy performers, they have the masquarade at Italy since then. It's basically a bunch of performers in Venitian masquarade costumes that roam the courtyard. It's really a nice addition.

They don't have Tapestry in any form any longer and no, the "bunch of performers in Venitian" costumes that "roam around the courtyard" isn't really very interesting or entertaining, sad to say.

Sadly, some of those cutbacks are beginning to be noticed.....

dancingprincess, shall we get our costumes on? I'm a rotten dancer myself but maybe we'll shame them into bringing some of the cool entertainment back to Epcot! LOL LOL
