Can anybody give me any reviews/tips for Akershus Royal Banquet Hall?

My friend has just returned and did the Lunch and thought it was great.

Anybody else got any reviews?

We are thinking of breakfast as I think we all prefer the food on offer at that time. Our DD6 is princess crazy so think it would be a good way to tick some off the list. :)

A friend of mine who has been to WDW a few times didn't like the lunch at all (was a Norwegian buffet, cold fish and the likes and he told me don't go! but sod him we are booked in for breakfast on our trip as our DD who is 7 is much like yours and very much "princess :worship:"

The breakfast gets great reviews on trip advisor (although I tend to take those with a pinch of salt) and also on touring plans. The menu ticks the boxes for us and at only 1 credit for the DDP is helluva lot better than Cinderella's castle which is 2 credits. I do hope the "frozen" princesses are at Epcot for this dining event as our DD is Anna & Elsa mad

Roll on October!

I'll just throw in a few words of caution so your expectaations are realistic....We went for dinner and it was my least favourite character experience, because it felt so rushed. Cinderella came the moment we sat down at the table. We'd just got back from the appetiser buffet and our main courses were served. I should have sent them back but was so befuddled at the time I didn't. Also there was very little space to take pics with the princesses. Looking at my photos they are so dominated by the other people sitting around us, and I only got time for one or two pictures with each one - so if dd was blinking at that one instant, that's it. The interaction was nowhere near as good as in the meet and greets - although this may be better with 2 daughters than with one very shy girl.

It wasn't awful, but it wasn't as good as I was expecting. Breakfast may be better, especially if there isn't another sitting coming in after you, and I hope your experience is overall better than ours.

Adding another opinion here regarding cost: I'd never pay for this one OOP. CRT still makes sense to pay cash for rather than 2 dining credits if you don't have many to spare, but Akershus is a credit or bust. JMHO

Eaten there twice but only in evenings(we don't usually eat breakfast)
First time was packed out and rushed like above. Food was arriving before we got chance to goto the buffet, desserts coming out before clearing table from main course, shortage of refills etc. But I did like the food so gave it a 2nd chance.
2nd time totally different, about 8-10 families in the whole place, quietest Disney meal we have had. Must have been a bit later as I remember towards end of meal the fireworks starting.

Food is just what I like, great buffet incl fresh salmon, endless peel & eat shrimp, plus lots more. DS & DW don't like much at all there but I love fish. Then the main courses were good, dessert nothing special but I am stuffed by then.

I wouldn't pay OOP for any character meal, none worth it to me :rotfl2:
Disney have removed the character breakfast from our cruise, everyone is emailing Disney to complain, I am thinking that's another breakfast I can now enjoy in peace :rotfl:

I would eat at Akershaus without question, would never waste credits or pay OOP for CRT. Definitely one of the worst meals out of the 80+ we have had in Disney, on a par with Cali Grill, my 2 biggest Disney dining disappointments.

I have done dinner here once. Loved the food but had the same experience as others. Mains out before we were half way though the buffet starter. What really ruined it though was the thoroughly obnoxious family with two little 'princesses' sitting next to us. Very loud. Character hogging. Rude. That's nothing to do with the restaurant though. It was a 6pm seating and was mobbed. It's a good way to see the princesses though so we are booked again this month but I booked for 8.30 hoping for a little more calm. We are doing Cindy's for an 8am the same day. It is princess day for DD ;)

We have done breakfast twice. I wasn't sure on the menu for lunch and dinner. We did book the a late breakfast about 10.30-11 I'm not sure now. It was more of a brunch Then for dinner had snacks around the world.

The characters are good and nice photo opportunity with belle in her ball gown at the beginning. We have also seen Mary Poppins here. Which was a bit random.

We've been 3 possibly 4 times for breakfast. Get an early adr before park opening.

Good value if you are on ddp - get a photopackage inc for 1 TS credit.

You pose for a photo with Belle - DD used to wear her Belle dress so they are a nice keepsake photo.

Then you get to help yourself to a cold buffet - meats, salmon, cheese, fruit bagels.

Then you get a hot platter brought to share you can have more if you like. Eggs, bacon and cheesy potatoes which are lovely.

The princesses come round. The princesses also do a parade around the room with the little girls behind them.

DD was 6 almost 7 last visit but over princesses so I don't think we will go again but would recommend it for a girl who loves princesses.

Photos in my dixons go deluxe food review - link in my signature - on page 2

Thanks for sharing pictures was good to see. We may go on our first full day as we will be up early, not sure about riding Soaring after all those eggs and bacon though :rotfl2:

Keep away from the Orange Team on Mission Space then!

This is exactly what we do - 8am ADR on our first day :D

hhhmmm I can only get a 10.45 res for breakfast for our first day, we could do this and hop on Soaring and possibly 1 other ride before breakfast and make it brunch.

But would we be rushed out as it says breakfast till 11.10? :confused3

Thank you for the information in this thread.

Next May I'm having an Epcot day by myself and want to go to akershus as its one place we've never tried.

I've secured 2 Adrs - 8.20. & 12.15

I'm not sure if I want breakfast or lunch, think I'd enjoy both meals.

It's Epcot EMH morning - so I'm hedging towards keeping the lunch but will see what fast passes I manage to get.

I value any opinions/ advice.

I've also never done a character. Meal on my own - will it be acceptable to do selfies? ;)

We have done Askerhaus 3 times for Dinner over recent years - Never again!

The food IMO has never been great but last time was awful, we hadn't finished with buffet before mains came out and with 5 ppl to a table of 4 seats - the plates hadn't been cleared as we were still eating so it was like musical plates.

Hubby had to send his food back twice because his vegetables were like bullets and my lamb could have got up and walked off the plate.

The waitress was RUDE and the manager was even worse! We reported the woman to Guest Services and her manager because she was just outrageous, esp in a room full of small children.

Character interaction isn't the best and it is cramped and rushed. The same characters here at CRT and we would much rather do that.

We also randomly saw Mary Poppins here - Ariel must have been sick that day!

We enjoyed Akershus but also had main courses delivered before we were ready. It wasn't the end of my world and the food was excellent. Mary Poppins is frequently at this meal that's not unusual. I also found the tables cramped. Overall I liked it a lot, but then I go to a character meal fully expecting it to be loud and a little chaotic. The worst part of our experience here was the parents with two little princesses at the table next to us. 100 photos per Princess and talking at the top of their voices as though the whole restaurant was interested in their evening and their princesses. I was not......

I saw a man doing a selfie with the Beast in BOG - Was one of the funniest things I have seen.

Not that you tell through all that fur but he seemed to be amused lol
