Entire Week at US/IOA - Too Much?

Nice to read this thread. We are staying at HRH for a week in October, and I'm sometimes afraid to say that on the boards cause so many people post that 2 days is sufficient.

We are making a relaxing vacation out of it. Lots of time at the pool, trip to wet n wild, multiple times on all rides, Blue Man Group, mini golf, etc.

I think the Preferred AP is fine for a tourist instead of the Premier AP. There are several benefits that really only apply if you're going to the parks a lot throught the year but you'll have to do the math and see if the additional cost of the Premier is worth it for you. I would stick with the Preferred.

I agree!!!

I too am glad to see this thread active (albeit from a small minority). I am a Disney fan like most...but I honestly think people play the "2 Day" card because they are only making it a pit stop from their bigger Disney vacation. We all know that if desired, you could probably fly through all 4 disney parks in 3 days if you so desired. Most choose to "short change" US/IOA, and meander at DIS, versus the opposite.

As I have scoured threads in here, I am also finding it curious that a lot of Disney die hards like US/IOA and really enjoy the time they spend there, and most admit that Universal is innovating more, adding fresher rides - but they still wave the Disney flag high (and I get that). But I wonder if a lot of these first timers would feel differently if they did US/IOA they way they do Disney - that is stay on site, get in the bubble and become fully immersed in US/IOA. We all know its a different experience when you can stay on site, destress, and remove some of the transportation headaches.

Just a thought. I guess I will be able to shed some light on that concept next year :thumbsup2

I have been doing the parks since Epcot first opened. Then when Universal opened we used to do all of them. But since Universal expanded with IOA, hotels, and Citywalk Universal has been getting most of our attention. Yes, I understand the whole Disney thing, but to me Universal pushes the envelope. :thumbsup2

You could never stay long enough onsite. RPR is our Fav resort, have stayed 4 weeks onsite a few times, now only stay 3 weeks , as we have a week at the beach.
So relaxing not having to be there to get FP like Disney, and spend entire days in the parks to try and get to see and do everything, usually have a few days at Seaworld as well hen we stay

It's been ages since we stayed at RPR and we would love to go back and spend at least 7 days ( or more, if possible). We love the immersive experience that a resort stay allows, however as I travel in a power wheelchair and transfers are difficult, it's hard for me personally to enjoy the attractions. I do get to enjoy the shows and my grandkids will soon be old enough to enjoy the faster-paced "rides". Right now they are happy with Disney, and I have a 2 year old dgd who has totally immersed herself in the princesses. I guess there is a time for everything, but I would fully support anyone who prefers to try US/IOA for their vacation and I'm hoping we'll get back for another visit. I live in Orlando and NEED to see the Harry Potter section!

We will only have two days at Universal this year and it really worries me. We like to go to the parks a minimum of four days. You can spend a few days just enjoying the pools and then there is the theater and the new mini-golf courses and we haven't even gone offsite yet.

You can go to Sea World or offsite mini-golf places (we love this) or to smaller attractions such as Ripleys or the Titanic exhibit and tons of other choices. Of course you would need a car for most of this.

I'm the opposite vote. A week at Universal sounds incredibly LONG to me. Last year we spent 3 days at the two parks and saw pretty much everything. This year we did 1 day at IOA and by 4 pm were done with everything. (We didn't have express passes but did have early entry to HP).

We went back to the hotel for a bit and returned aroudn 6:30 to tour HP again. I can't imagine a week long stay at Universal, unless your primary reason for staying is lots of pool time.

Personally I like DD way better than CityWalk. There is a lot more to do and see with kids.

Just another perspective...

We are going for 6 days in August and am wishing we could stay longer! We love to ride the rides and we do them over and over and over lol. We spend time at the pool. We are doing Blue Mn Group one night and one day at Discovery cove. You have a movie theatre, mini golf and tons of restaurants to choose from at City Walk. Make it a nice relaxing vacation! When we come home I never feel like we need a vacation to recover from our vacation at Universal like we do when we visit other places.

We`re staying 17 days and would stay longer if we could this year!!!

We never get bored at Univeral Orlando Resort. Very relaxing doing the parks when we feel like it, we have 14 day tickets and plan to use every day on them :) a little bit of pool time.....not big pool people but we do enjoy the RPR pool. Very relaxing but with a great atmosphere. Suits us down to the ground. The hotel is just wonderful and we feel very much at home at RPR.

We always have a car for our trip so although we have no desire to do any Disney parks we do get around all over the place whether it be to sightsee or eat round about.

Citywalk is a great place to hang around, plenty of great choices to eat and again fab atmosphere at night. We are looking forward to having fun in the mini golf there this time.

So to the OP no an entire week is not too long. I hope you have a wonderful relaxing trip :thumbsup2
