Hello! I am making a quick one day trip next weekend and staying at a hotel on Katella b/w Disneyland Dr and S Walnut. We are planning to rope drop so I suppose we should enter DTD near Disneyland hotel.. is that where security is? Is there another security closer to the esplanade, or just that one? Where is the entrance? and I uspopse that is better than going around to Harbor right?

Thanks!
Kim

You go through security BEFORE Downtown Disney. All entrances to Downtown Disney from Disney hotels also have them. You also go through security before boarding the tram from the parking structures.

You can take ride-share to the Harbor Blvd side or walk to the DTD entrances.

In the picture below, it shows three security entrances next to the DLH. The red circle tends to be the less crowded than the teal circle (marginally). Blue is out of the way for the direction you are coming from. After you pass security, you walk approx 0.5 miles through DTD to the park entrances.

When we were there earlier this month, the teal entrance was closed to enter DTD and they were sending everyone through the red entrance. Security limes moved quickly, so either entrance will be your best bet though.

It was closed while they did some underground work, presumably for the ESPN building remodel. I believe it has since reopened.
