debating is fine but 30 new mean spirited threads a day,, I just stay away

That's why I don't even bother going to ANY of the election threads.
I already hear enough of it on the radio and TV.

In a way, the OP's assertion that there will be fences to mend after the election is an encouraging thought. What I've found (not just here online, but even out there IRL) is a general refusal by some to accept that people who hold to different beliefs deserve to exist. I am not as optimistic that such folks will be willing to entertain the idea of mending fences at any time. They seem (pardon the pun) hell-bent on eliminating perspectives different from their own, and it doesn't seem to me that winning or losing an election will change that.
I happen to enjoy the back and forth, and find very little of it hateful....some of it is, but that is america. We should all celebrate the fact that we are all here participating in the process. I think some of the indignation is easily solved by not paying attention!!

I have to agree. Any nastiness from anybody, I just attribute to their passion. Yes, we have a few that have gone over the top (I got points for calling someone from "my" side out - but they were well deserved points), but they are from both sides and luckily few and far between.
And actually, I am thrilled to see everybody so passionate about this race. It is an important one. I am glad both sides are fired up and ready to go to the polls. I would be much more disturbed if in this time of turmoil, everyone was being indifferent about this election.
I also am loving all the political threads. It is the ultimate clearing house. If anything happens in the political world, you can be sure that somebody on the CB has posted a link to it.
I can get up in the morning, get my coffee and without trying, find links to every legitimate and not so legitimate story that broke the past few hours. I don't have to do any work. Just come to the CB and I can find anything and everything. It is the ultimate political google page right now![]()
And sometimes, the CB has the links up before the MSM does.![]()

True, but then again, most of the OP's of those threads are staffers and political workers for the various parties, and are assigned to "get the message out"
