England's Take On A Black Princess

Well, the opinion came from the Guardian which is a newspaper in England (probably not a good representation of English people). Surprisingly I hadn't seen such a stupid op-ed piece come out of America since "Princess And The Frog" came out. I guess it took that wildly liberal Guardian to come up with the dumbest article ever:

One newspaper is not a clear representation of how a whole country thinks about things!!! We are still waiting for it's release in England!

I don't know that I think the article's dumb, just very misguided and all over the place. Do we need good representation of women and minorities in media and creative yes - but why pick on Disney??? It was clear the writer doesn't have a good grasp of Disney's hiring but took a stab in the dark and picked on the "big corporate evil". IMO articles like this do as much harm as good cuz they oversimplify just to stir up interest.

I think their expectations are unrealistic for what was simply a well made Disney film.

And while Disney having a Princess of color does have a special meaning to many of us, it was nice to see Princesses of all colors in the MK in Dec who only saw Tiana as a Princess and couldn't wait to meet her. That's gotta be one of the things I've appreciated most about Disney over the years - the celebration and appreciation of everyone that's a core of Disney culture.

And that's why this person has NO idea what they're talking about.
