I am diabetic and go to Disney every year but have found the last 2 years I have run out of energy LONG before I was actually ready to stop. Is it wrong to get an ECG for energy conservation without an additional problem???

If you cannot do disney without an ECV, then get one! The reason I first started using a wc is because my stamina was so low. Now i use it for additional reason.

Pace yourself, take breaks, but if this is not enough, then do what you gotta do!

ETA: i would say that if it is a stamina problem that can be helped by "training" before you go, like building up walking tolerance, that would work MUCH better than a scooter!

if the energy problems are due to medical or other unchanging concerns (increasing age, the diabetes, etc), then you do what you have to!

Energy Conservation is extremely important when you have underlying medical conditions. If an adaptation or device helps you to do disney with less fatigue or pain than it is definitely the way to go.:)

been walking uphill with my puppy...have done 1 mile roundtrip so far...and i work all day ......just seems with the heat it takes more than I have and I don't go until late fall or winter. Thanks for your support! I'm still trying to decide. I'm still very active but haven't enjoyed my trips to Disney the last 2 years from just being so very tired! (I've also lost 17 pounds as well)!!!

If you need an ECV, go for it! :thumbsup2 Anyone can rent one, you do not need to have a certain condition or anything. In your case it would be a bummer to have to go back to rest when you are still able to keep on enjoying your day.

I teach my patients energy conservation tips all the time and is where I first got the idea.my energy level in the parks takes me til about 2 then I'm pretty much toast if I've been up since 5 am walking( internal alarm won't let me sleep in grrr)naps don't seem to do anything to help sooooo I thought the ecv might help.again thanks for the support

You would certainly have a good reason to rent or bring an ECV. You might also want to talk with your physician or dietician about the rigors of a WDW trip and if you need to adjust your food intake or meds. There's so much walking and moving around vs. what kind of energy you would use in daily life that perhaps they might have a suggestion to also help. My husband was a diabetic and although he kept up with us just fine he often got grumpy which I knew was a sign that he needed to eat something right away. That only happened at WDW so I know he was using up more carbs. You might also want to plan a mid-day TS meal where you can sit in the a/c and relax/recharge a bit. ---Kathy
