Have any of you had this done?

I had to get one today and let me say, oh my WORD, it hurt! I don't know why they didn't warn me so I could take some Xanax and/or some Motrin before the appointment. It sure didn't help that I'm recovering from the flu, so I was miserable, sweaty, headachy, along with all the lady problems that prompted the visit.

Am I the only one who found this painful and stressful?? How long did you have to wait for your results and what came next?

I had one a little over 6 years ago and thankfully they warned me before to take Motrin because it was going to hurt.

I'm sorry that it was painful for you! I hope that you are feeling better very soon and that they get the results to you quickly. (I can't remember when I got my results, but I didn't have to wait too long.)

I am actually having one done in 3 weeks in addition to a hysteroscopy which is where they put in a camera and take a look around. I am having it done in a hospital so I will be nice and loopy while it is being done. I tried to have done in the doctors office but it hurt SO MUCH that he just decided to drug me up and do it in the hospital.

not an endometrial biopsy, but i had a colposcopy (biopsy of the cervix) about 15 years ago, and i'll admit it, i cried. that's a pain i don't ever want to feel again. my ob/gyn got frustrated and called me a baby. surprisingly, he's still my doctor, and he's been wonderful to me ever since.

I had this done about a year ago.I feel your pain! My doctor (a male) told me there would be a little cramping,I thought I was going to pass out!I saw white-I screamed,"Are you done, yet" then I asked him," how do you know it feels like cramping?" I told him he will NOT touch/hurt me again, everything is to be done in the OR! The things us women have to deal with!:scared1:

I was scheduled to have one, but they were unable to "visualize the cervix," and I have a retroflexed uterus, which also made it more difficult, so instead I'm going to have a D&C and the biopsy done at the same time. They gave me a prescription for stuff to take before the procedure, and there will be an anesthesiologist, so I am hoping that will minimize the pain.

I had one, but I didn't know ahead of time I would be getting one, because it was the first time I saw this doctor.

It was pretty bad, but the doctor told me it was because my uterus was tipped and I'd had a previous endometrial ablation. I had pretty bad cramps that night, but I think by morning they were better.

Good luck!

I know it's not funny, but you made me chuckle a little with that. The PA that worked on me was a woman, but she said it had to be a man who invented the procedure.

The one thing that irritated me was that I had no preparation for it before I went in. The nurse who took my vitals had me undress, then told me what was going on. I asked if it would hurt and she said it would, then left me to sit for what felt like forever. The anxiety was really bad at that point! It's a good thing my husband had gone with me, otherwise I might have found a reason to leave. Poor guy, I about squeezed his hand off.

I had one when I was going through infertility treatments. It was 13 years ago and I still vividly remember how painful it was! Oh my gosh, my legs are closing tighter and tighter at that memory!

I have had several endometrial biopsies in my previous life as an infertile woman and i thought ALL of them were painful. The last one I had was when they were testing for uterine cancer and the doctor said, "Oh, this doesn't really hurt. You'll just cramp a little bit." I knew better and I told him so. But it still didn't prepare me for the moment when that thing *nipped* my insides and I cried out. The doctor made a smart remark on the order of don't-be-a-baby and I told him to hand me that instrument and I'll just clamp it onto his private part for just moment,it will only cramp a little bit, okay? I could see on his face "Warning! Crazy Lady!" as he backed away. :rolleyes1

I had one done a few years ago before a uterine fibroid embolization procedure I had done. fortunately I was warned ahead of time to take something for pain. I took 2 Aleve about 45 minutes before the appt and I really didn't feel any pain at all. Some tugging and some mild cramping after but really no pain at all. Sorry you had such a rough time...hope you get your results soon. It's so hard to wait on test results

The dr didn't warn me before hand how badly it would hurt. I really wasn't expecting it, as I had just had a ******l ultrasound 5 min before and it didn't hurt.
I have a low tolerance for pain, they had to give me a pain shot afterwords because I was crying like a big baby. To top it all of, no endometriosis. All that for nothing. Other than a kidney stone, that was probably the worst I've ever hurt.

My doc gave me a squeeze ball to squeeze and warned me (the nurse said people used to hold her hand, but she was getting bruised LOL). It hurt, but it was over so fast, that by the time it hurt, he was done.

I've been avoiding this thread all evening because I thought you were gonna ask IF it's painful and I didn't wanna be that honest with you and scare the bejeesus out of you.

To all those doctors and others who don't think it's a painful proceedure who on earth told them it WASN'T???? I wasn't warned and was quite surprised at how much it hurt......I'm sorry for any woman who has to go through these without pain meds.

The results of my tests were back in about a week. I believe it was one of the tests that still gets sent out and isn't done *in house* so that's why it took longer to come back.

Hope your results are normal!

I guess I'm the odd one out. I had this done 2weeks ago and thought it was nothing. I was expecting it to hurt but it didn't.

I had one done a few weeks ago, and kept getting warned it was going to hurt. The doctor made me take a lot of motrin before coming in. She ended up taking maybe 5 or 6 samples, and it was only that last one that was a little uncomfortable. As for results, it was maybe a week or so? Anyway, mine were inconclusive, so that's why I'm up before 5am today. I'm going in for a D&C and hysterscopy, so nothing to eat or drink after 5am. (Going to get a big glass of water and go back to bed!)

another odd man out here....have had 3 of them done and never experienced any pain or cramping...I guess I have a numb uterus :rotfl:

Another odd one. Had biopsy done in October I only felt a pinch had slight cramping for rest of the day. Results came back in about a week. I didn't take any meds before the procedure.

I had it, too, without warning and the pain was probably the worst pain I have ever had. I have not had children, though. The worst part was that she didn't get enough on the first bite and had to do it again! Fortunately, I didn't have too much cramping after and felt fine the rest of the day.

I have had 4 done.

The first one in the doctors office he said it would be like slight cramping and it was, but then i have had cramps that would put me in the fetal position. He was very surprised by my reaction (which was nothing), as he said a lot of women complain of the pain.

Second one was done in the hospital and i was put out, but they took more then one sample.

The third and 4th ones, me told me to just take Tylenol first and there was no pain with those either.

I am sorry your doctor didn't warn you about it ahead of time.
All of mine took a week to get the results back.

For those who the doctor was an idiot and called you names, well lets just say he would remember me, and i would have found a new doctor.
