Endometrial biopsy UPDATE with good results. :)

Test results came back normal! Still waiting for the blood test results, but she thinks it may just be hormonal. She gave me some info on getting a uterine ablation, so it's something I'll think about and see what it involves.

I also had uterine ablation several years ago. Piece of cake. and the best thing I ever did for myself. Much better than a hysterectomy, which was my other choice. I had the ablation on a Thursday, some cramps in the afternoon, slept that off and took my kids for a 5 day campout on Friday. It really was just that easy.

I had the biopsy today. She said she did three samples. I took 4 advils 20 minutes before the appt. From reading this thread I was a wreck, honestly. My blood pressure was 150/100 just before it, I kid you not.
Meanwhile, it was a tad bit worse than a typical yearly. She did not use lidocaine.
The last time I had this done (a year or so ago) it was in a hospital setting with a Surgeon and I just dealt with it. It ws totally unexpected, and he had just done it without me knowing ahead of time, so no meds. Not the best experience, but certainly doable. So this time, I happen to see this thread and my nerves were truly shot today before it.
I wanted to come back to let others know that my experience was not bad, so not everyone has a terrible time. So glad it is over, so now....the wait... popcorn:: breathe in breathe out, one day at a time...I keep telling myself. After battling/surviving cancer, it is just not easy having to wait........fingers crossed for good results! :worship:

I had the ablation done (in the OR of course!), as a result I am regular, and get my periods right on time. My doctor wanted to do it in the office, but knowing how I handled the bioposy,he knew I wouldn't let him touch me in that office! It was the best thing, I did! Best of luck to you!

Fingers are crossed for you! I'm sorry this thread stressed you out so much about it. :guilty: You're right to chime in with the others to let us know that not everybody has it bad with the test, and nobody should be scared away from doing it.

But still, take the ibuprofen beforehand! I think that would have done a lot towards blunting the pain for me. Well, that and if I had "normal" parts that didn't require quite a bit of maneuvering and wrangling to get to.

:thumbsup2 I get my results on Thursday. Assuming it is good news, we will be discussing an ablation.

I'm glad to hear your tests came back normal. Yay! I had to look up "uterine ablation" to see what it means -- it does seem like something to consider. I hope that you and your docs find a good solution for ya!

I'm scheduled for an ablation in June, but I'm concerned that its the new it-cure without taking into consideration the CAUSE behind the misery. Doc put me on aygestin to stop the last massacre and its been heaven. No periods, no PMS, no zits, no tweezers to my chin, sleep longer than 4 hrs. Any thoughts?

usually an ablation is done when you have had an internal ultrasound and no fibroids have been found and you have had an endometrial biopsy and everything comes back benign/normal. So, every other alternative/cause must have been taken into account before this procedure comes up as an option. For most of us it is just hormones gone crazy during perimenopause and it is a much better option than a hysterectomy to stop all the hemorrhaging.

I had a cryo (freezing) Ablation done two weeks ago. Actually had my post op appointment today. It was done in the office and I am keeping my fingers crossed it was successful!

Best of luck to you, OP.
