Hi everyone! Just wanted some opinions on whether we should have lunch at Cabanas or Enchanted Garden on embarkation. We are a family of 11 and will have a 4, 6 and 12 year old with us. Last cruise it was just my sister and I and we had a lovely lunch at Enchanted Garden but not sure if Cabanas would be a better choice since we'll have little ones in our group.

I traveled with a group of 23 on the Dream last summer. We ate at Cabanas as I heard the food options were better- looking back, we probably should have gone to Enchanted Garden. Cabanas was very hectic for a group of newbies (excluding my family).

Cabanas has more food selections and therefore far more choice, it has a regular through flow of people in and out.

Kids in particular will like cabanas seeing their choice, and going up again and again, and it's on the pool deck where they will wish to be

Sitting together in either will be difficult, best advice get on early and go straight there.

I agree about Cabanas. We went when my daughter was 6 and very picky and wound up at EG. They had not typical kid friendly food on the buffet, and when I asked if they could get something for her they said no.

We have done both. While the relaxed atmosphere at EG was good and we had fun with the couple we ate with, the food choices are so much better at Cabanas.

My husband did not like the craziness of Cabanas so we are going to try EG next time

With a large group, I think EG would be a better choice. Yes, Cabanas has more options but it can be very hectic getting through the line and finding a table on embarkation day. A PP mentioned that EG did not have kid friendly choices, we found this to be sort of true but when our server realized my kids weren't eating, he asked what they would like and came back in just a couple of minutes with corn dogs, pizza, chicken tenders and mac and cheese. :goodvibes

i would recommend EG for your departure lunch. It will be much easier to get a table for 11 in the EG. It will be a smooth transition after you board. After you eat, you can stroll the ship and show the family the location of Cabanas.

I wouldn't want the stress of trying to gather several tables together in the same locaiton at Cabanas. Save it for a different day if you want to dso that.

and *this* ^^ (in red) is why I would opt for EG or other sit-down (depending on ship) as my little one would never eat if he could swim or splash instead... and that means *I* don't get a decent meal as I will be pool/splash zone-side instead!

You are seated by a server whereas in Cabanas it is up to you to find a seat which can be difficult at certain times of the day.

That's kind of what I assumed, how hard is it to get something near a porthole?

If you request it and it's available then it shouldn't be an issue. We were in front of a porthole last trip without asking and it was very nice.

Don't get me wrong, we enjoy Cabanas and the option of sitting outside but on embarkation day it can be difficult especially if you are travelling with children.

Here was our view from Cabanas on our CC day.

Just not wild about starting the trip in the bowels of the ship. It would be nice to be able to see out.
