We woke to our alarm at 7am, and were very happy to hear it for once, so close to getting on the plane back to our favourite place, to arrange the best day of our lives, happy happy happy!
We both showered and packed our cases ready to check out after breakfast at the Garden Restaurant which is included with the hotel. We met Mum and Brian down there, and were a bit worried to see so much fog around and to hear some European flights had been cancelled...but not too worried as we were hungry!!!
I am apologising now as we are not fussy eaters so my food reports will be very boring for you all, but I took lots of photos to try and make up for it!!!
There is a great selection for breakfast at the Hilton and we all really enjoyed it. It is served buffet style and the choice includes full english, continental, fruit and yoghurt, cereals, bread and pastries.
We all started with something hot, and here is my choice, cheese to make a sausage and cheese sandwich!
Followed by some fruit
(see I did try to start off well!)
All nicely full, we collected our luggage and checked out, here are our cases sporting their new ribbons!
I also had these made for Mum and Brian in blue and it made our cases very easy to spot at the other end!
We walked through the tunnel to get to the terminal, this hotel is the best location ever, and we didn't even hear any planes from our room! Mum had been told by someone at work to ask about upgrade discounts, and as Brian is a bit of a nervous flyer he was keen for this (For about the last 7 years my Mum and Brian have only been on holiday to Scotland so maximum 1 hour flights, this was all kind of new to them long haul jumbo jet etc, but I think they are now converted too

)
So we did and she told us about a special deal they had on to upgrade to PE, so Mum treated us both and we said goodbye to our cases, excited to try out PE!
We got through security very quickly without any problems, a bit of shopping in the duty free...sunglasses case, earphones (I had forgotten mine!) and some black and silver havaianas for me, sunglasses for Scotty, a bag for mum and they also got 2 bottles of gin...not used to duty free prices!
We then went for some pre boarding drinks, Brian's tradition
Due to the fog we boarded about an hour late, but when we did we were excited to board first with our upgrade!!! I was extra pleased that one of the complimentary magazines you could take was Brides, perfect!
Our plane was Ruby Tuesday
And our seats were upstairs in the bubble, lovely! We were greeted with complimentary drinks, bucks fizz for us
And settled in ready for take off...
Scott and I watched 3 films on the flight over, The adventures of Tin Tin (Not too interesting....), Puss in Boots (Quite good but doesn't live up to Shrek IMO!) and then the Descendants which was good.
Dinner was tomato and cucumber salad, then we ordered a different main each, braised beef in red wine sauce with rosemary potatoes and root vegetables, and chicken and muchroom fricassee with mustard mash and greens, and had half each, we like to do this!
Pudding was the best part though...Lily O'Brien's chocolate caramel mousse, it was divine! Then cheese and biscuits
It was good as far as plane food goes, and nice to have a real knife and fork! We both had white wine with dinner.
Baileys or brandy was then offered to everyone, so I had a Baileys and enjoyed that whilst listening to some DIsney podcasts I had saved up to get me in the mood.
Not sure where we are here but lots of snow...
We were then offered ice cream, I had run amd raisin my all time fave! And Scott had vanilla. Then next up was fruit bowl so a banana for Scotty and a plum for me.
Then final meal was cheese and onion sandwich and a scone...this didn't go down well with Scott as he doesn't like raw cheese or sultanas/raisins, I thought it was strange they didn't offer a choice of sandwiches?
One complaint about PE is that they wouldn't give Brian or Scott any beer saying there wasn't much on board and it had to be saved for the return flight...I woudl understand if they had already drunk loads but weren't even allowed one which we thought was a bit off?
Our first view of USA
We landed quite smoothly and the Captain announced it was still nice and warm, beautiful!
Immigration was a long old queue of over an hour, but we were all let in and the man was actually quite friendly asking about our wedding. Suitcases easily grabbed we made our way to the budget car hire desk where Pete from Car on the Drive was waiting for us.
We had originally requested a stop of at Publix but as we were an hour late were all a bit too scared to ask him when he drove straight past Not that we needed food we were all stuffed! He was quite helpful explaining the rules of driving in the US to us as this would be my first attempt! When we got to the villa, our hire car was waiting on the drive, a white toyata Rav 4, but Pete had brought the wrong key with him so he had to go back to the office to change it over!
While he did this we unpacked in the beautiful villa we would be calling home for the next week, and me and Scott got the main bedroom as I had arranged everything for this trip and Mum offered...so we didn't refuse! Both of the bedrooms had en suites though, with 2 spare rooms we used for cases. A lovely pool and outside seating area. Here are some photos:
Boy's favourite place
And we found this along with a card congratulating us on our wedding from the owners
Such a lovely surprise and amazing welcome into their Floridian home.
The villa was 4 bedrooms and in the Aviana resort, about 20 minute drive to most places, but lovely and quiet to relax in the evenings.
So Pete finally delivered the correct car key and showed us the controls and we were off to bed No problems sleeping tonight with the time difference, although we only went 4 hours back as the UK clocks hadn't gone forward yet so that was a bonus!
