EMM now being offered at DHS! Epcot to follow?

Yup we knew it was coming, I think DHS being next was the surprise. I honestly think we could have predicted these YEARS ago. Disney promised that FP/FP+ was free and I don't think they will ever back off from that. What they have been doing is offering FP+ via a back door in the way of VIP Tours, Dessert Parties, Morning Magic Events, Tony's Package, Fantasmic Package, Jungle Book Package ..... and expect it all to continue. It's not an upcharge, it's a creative way to charge for FP+.
Exactly .. DHS is a bit of a surprise. If you do this EMM, DHS easily becomes a half day park then as you can use a Tier 1 FP on something BESIDES TSMM.

The more crowded and popular WDW becomes, the more demand there will be for these "fast-pass-like" packages.
I think we'll see several of these per park eventually (like one for Star Wars Land and one for Toy Story land).

When you break it down, these EMM are essentially PAYING for three more Fast Passes for $10/each and getting a $40 buffet breakfast. And I am okay with that.
The DHS one is pretty brilliant with that many M&Gs .. 5 characters? That is more than a character meal. I am surprised the MK doesn't offer a M&G.

Question is will they do this at AK now or just wait until Pandora.

This just solidies my opinion that Extra Magic Hours will slowly fade away. (Why give away for free, what you can now charge for?).

I think they will probably replace that resort perk with some other FP-related perk.
Stay in a resort hotel = get 1 extra fast pass per day. (I've stated that I think that would be a bigger way to convince families to choose a Disney Resort over an off-site hotel).

Next up: A rope drop premium hard ticket cost, with a Welcome Show viewing fee.

Stop giving them ideas!!!

We think sometimes that the pleasure of balloons is watching the balloon sellers and their huge bunch of balloons. And why buy one because then you aren't watching it? And then we think "next they'll charge us to look at the balloons" and then we think "stop giving them ideas!"

Extra Money Minutes.

Ha!

Crowds are down, hotel occupancy is down, ticket sales are down.

But but but...they keep raising the costs and not just keeping things the same but decreasing things. They are CAUSING the crowds to be down!

But the cast members that are getting fewer hours because of it are the ones that we should be thinking about.

They started doing that years ago.

While I'm not interested in either the MK or HS one I think it's a great idea and have no objection to it. Even when my son was little I don't think we would have paid for it, he was never interested in the character breakfasts either and FP takes care of the rides he would have really been interested. Now, I would have paid for the night one at MK had it still been available when I go in Sept. and I have an AP and go at least twice a year. Rides are not even a big deal for me to be able to be in a partially empty park at night, for some reason just appeals to me. Had they put ToT in the HS one, I might have even gone for it, I don't even mind waiting in line for ToT but throw in breakfast and not waiting in line and why not. Serve breakfast in the ToT lobby or on the porch and I so would pay for it. If they do it at Epcot, according to what rides they throw in, I might be inclined to do that one. Not interested in FEA or characters but breakfast at France and maybe Soarin and I'm in. That gives me TT on a FP and then everything else I do just stand by since there are rarely lines and more time to graze and enjoy WS, I'd probably pay for that. I probably wouldn't pay for one at AK because I've never had any problems riding any of the rides I enjoy there and I really wouldn't want to interrupt the animal routines any more than they already have with the evening hours so safari wouldn't appeal to me. Any of them after park closes, I'd be in and I wouldn't even need food. Just to walk around any of the parks after they have closed would be a hoot for me.

Call me BIZARRE, I just booked it. :crazy2:

I have APs and that is how I justify paying for any extra hard ticket events. There are different kind of AP holders. I assume from your name you are a local. I have APs but we drive 8 hours to get there, pay for hotels, so while I know I'll get back it may not be for some time. When they offer up some of my DS favorites without crowds and lines plus breakfast, it is worth the price.

Totally agree 100%. Booked and I am thrilled, as AP holders who travel. And my kids are so little we are up anyway that early. I GLADLY dropped my Hollywood and Vine 8am breakfast for this, I really didn't want to eat there again. So cost comparison wise from that reservation to this reservation I feel like I am getting much more value for my dollar. We will ride TSMM a million times. We have NEVER met Buzz before due to long lines and relatively low priority, but now we will! I am happy!

We aren't going until October 2017 and I hope these are still around then. I will book the two of us EMM at every park! And the Halloween party! :rotfl:
Disney will love me!

How does anyone figure this has no effect on people who haven't paid for it?

I want to sign my son up for Jedi Training. I've made my plans and fast passes for the day (and dining reservations 4 months ago) and was planning to arrive an hour before the park opened. Now there could be 100 people already in line before I'm allowed into the park. How does that not affect me?

I don't have another day that I can go to the Studios.

If ToT was included, I'd be onboard!

I did the MK EMM in May, the crowd was very small. We rode 7DMT 3 times in a row, there was no line. You did have to get off the train but you could reenter the line at the second fastpass post. I think we ended back on the same train. PP and Pooh they allowed us to stay on for a second ride. We did the breakfast and were done around 9:15, we rode Small World and Haunted Mansion with no wait. We then left because we already had our fastpasses for DHS that morning.

I'm considering doing the DHS EMM simply because it helps us have more time in DHS. We are planning on maybe 1/2day there with Epcot in the morning and DHS in the evening (with 5:00 H&V fantasmic dining package meal). The draw for us is that we were already planning on heading to DHS at rope drop to sign my son up for an afternoon/evening JTA session and then head to Epcot for a few rides and Food and Wine snacks . I was worried about having time to fit in multiple rides and dinner and F! That evening as well as having to save FP+ for DHS and not being able to use them in Epcot. We have a one year old so this may work out in our favor to do two people using FP+ in Epcot and one person in DHS for RnR (ToT is a no go for my family). Rider swap will be huge there

I think an Epcot one will be just as successful as the Magic Kingdom one, even I might save up a little more money for an Epcot EMM event. If a lot of people do as I do and only plan one day for Epcot, this might really rake in the revenue for the mouse. And I agree, I think this is the beginning of the end of EMHs.

I'd definitely prefer the extra FP to EMH, but more than one ;)

I see FEA in the mix. It's new, slow loading and appeals to all ages. Of your choices I would say #1 plus maybe throw in Caballero Donald.

But to throw something else in there ........... to open Gran Fiesta you would have to open the market because all the goods are sitting out there. Would it be possible to open FEA, A&E Meet, TT and breakfast. That surely would have a big draw and keep everyone on one side of the park. Breakfast could be in the Electric Umbrella.

Good point on the market, unless they roped it off somehow and everyone entered and exited to the left hand side as you enter the pavilion? Could be a tight fit though.

If they put 2 Tier One's in the EMM, I'm sure it would be a HUGE draw! I know I would book it, anyway! :)

We have APs. This will be our 6th trip since we got them in September and I booked it. My teen boys thought it sounded like an amazing opportunity. It's only about $220 and it will be a great time!

I agree with you. Going in August and was planning to do HS on a Monday. JTA is something my kids would love to do. Now I may have to switch all my plans around, ADR and FP, to swap park days. Doubt that is even possible so close considering I have BOG and H&V fantastic package.

Will post in early August to see what others see with JTA sign-up and the EMM.

Thanks! I would love to know how it works out for you. I don't care if they want to upcharge people for extra things but it would be nice if they would give enough notice for others to plan around it. I could have made my studios day any other day that week with advance notice.

We did the same! We are there from Sept. 17-25 and are doing the Halloween party 3 times, EMM at MK twice and EMM at HS twice lol. And if they add one at Epcot, I'm all over that too. I like these events.
