I just read elsewhere that someone's experience at Magic Kingdom had non-resort guests being let in for the extra magic hour in the am near the Fantasy Land entrance.

Has anyone noticed that? :)

we were there on Wednesday night EMH from 11pm to 1am and on two of the attractions we rode they did not scan our bands.....Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear spin.

with out knowing the detals I do not know. I do know that they will not scan every one in your group but one person and ask how many so this could be how they got in. or maybe it was a Pixie dust moment

This would be handled entirely differently for AM and PM EMH. Night has always had them checking bands for one member of the group.

I would also be interested in hearing an update of how they are making sure AM EMH stays exclusive to onsite guests.

For those not checked for AM EMH - how are they arriving? With the new security, guests arriving via bus would not be checked at all. Are guests being checked and held at TTC for a period of time until EMH is underway?

This is incorrect information, they security check everyone, just in different places now.

non resort Morning emh is hit or miss, some times you are limited to the hub and main street, sometimes you can get past that. sometimes you don't get past going 1 direction and change your plan and head to a different land instead..

Like anything it varies but sometimes everyone gets stopped so don't plan on this technique for a way to cheat the system, it most likely will backfire.

I have typed and retyped a response quite a few times

While, I'm sure the intention of the question is perfectly innocent - particularly, since I see the you are staying on property

These kinds of issues should not be discussed on public forums ...

1. If a resort guest arrives and they are checking bands - all is as it should be
2. If a resort guest arrives and they are not checking bands, don't shout it from the rooftops, and invite abuse - bring up your annoyance and the oversight to Disney
3. If a non-resort guest arrives and they are not checking bands and they found out by being there, by accident - some pixie dust
4. If a non-resort guest arrives and they are not checking bands and they went there knowing they don't and in essence are gaming the system, I would like to think karma will come their way sometime during the visit

Information spreads like wildfire on the internet - ever see a pricing mistake posted, and all hell breaks loose - same theory here - if procedures are not being followed, do not blast it - unless you want lots of non-resort guests showing up during EMH because they saw on the internet that Disney procedures are lax

I am truly not trying to start trouble, please don't take this the wrong way

Well, while I see your point, I would have to say this is a discussion board and this is the type of thing that would be discussed. If so many people are being let in as to negate the advantage of arriving for am EMH at Magic Kingdom, perhaps I will change my mind and not utilize it. I would rather ask people here who have experienced it than find out myself while I'm on my trip.

We should probably let the mods police what should or shouldn't be said here. popcorn::

Anyhoo... yes, OP, non-resort guests being able to use EMH would greatly impact my decision to use EMH or not.

This is incorrect information, they security check everyone, just in different places now.

Security checked, yes, of course. But not EMH checked, since if you're arriving arriving via Disney bus from a resort first thing thing in the morning it's a pretty decent be bet you're a resort guest and scanning your band to verify is unnecessary.

I would go to guest services and voice my concerns. If I am paying extra for the EMH perks, I would like an explanation why off site guests are enjoying my supposedly onsite exclusive perks.

It's just so odd, why would they not be checking everyone's wrist bands? Have people stationed at each "land" entrance.

Or just let resort guests on to Main Street 15 or so minutes before everyone else so they can get to the lands for EMH.

I stay offsite a lot because we travel with our dog. Anyway, I purposely avoid the extra magic hour parks. I find them more crowded as the day goes on.

I wouldn't want to gamble on getting in or not, anyway.

I can't see this being that abused. If it was Disney would react.

I have read recent reports (since the new opening procedure at MK) of bands being checked at the entrances to the lands that are open for EMH. So it does happen. But like any policy at Disney, enforcement depends on the CM working at that location that day. Some will be very thorough and scan every person's band, and some won't bother scanning any.

We've also always had our bands scanned at each attraction during evening EMH, but like above obviously enforcement varies by CM.

When we went to MK for EMH two fridays ago they were only letting in resort guests and those with ADRs at about 7:45. They were scanning magic bands to check we were resort guests before the touch points and we were allowed to head up Main Street and congregate in the Hub area until about 8 when the rides opened. It appeared they were waiting until 8 or later to allow non resort guests to actually enter MK-I assumed it was to move the large EMH crowds there into fantasyland/tomorrowland quickly & they would switch to checking magic bands at the bridges to the lands (vs at the MK entrance) after 8.

Is this a serious post? It's a discussion board. This is a valid observation and question. Enforcing the entry rules is up to Disney -- not the responsibility of a poster making an observation online.

OP - I certainly hope this is an anomaly. And I agree with a PP -- if I noticed this first hand, I think a trip to guest services to voice displeasure is appropriate.

I thought I was seeing the same thing the last time I went solo. I'd never seen so many people in line to get in for early morning EMH before. Usually it's a walk up to the tapstiles.
