EMH at DHS going away

EMH were 8-10 pm last night.
Crowds were a decent size.
We had gotten in line for Olaf a couple minutes before closing (he closes).
Got out around 8:20 and walked to Muppets.
Now EMH, they scanned MagicBands.
Got out around 8:50.
Got in line for RnR and ToT closer to 9 pm.
RnR was 15 minutes and ToT was walk on.

Now if you go right at 8 pm, which is when your EMH start, there will be all the non-EMH folks in the line who were jumping in at last minute. So if your question is can non-EMH enter the line 1 minute before closing, yes as CMs should not start scanning MB until 8 pm.
Sorry we would be doing EMH. We have dinner at Sci-Fi at 4:40 and plan to do F! at 7pm and race to SWAGS at 7:45PM and then do EMH. We want to do RnR and ToT for sure and maybe TSM.I was planning to do Star Tours after dinner and before F!

My only guess is that this is temporary until construction is gone. Maybe Disney finally wants to ramp up the speed of construction and get something done on (or AHEAD) of schedule.

To me, the news about the mousekeepers could lend itself in 1 of 2 ways:

1) Disney is looking to elevate guest experience. They're struggling to compete with the higher-end hotels and need a reason to bring in guests. Why would they ditch (one of) the top reasons to stay on-site with EMHs?

2) Disney is ditching EMHs and are compensating by making sure the resorts are in tip-top shape, thus giving guests a reason to stay on-site.

So they're ditching the PM EMH to increase guest satisfaction?

You're making some pretty big leaps there.

Not what I said. I said that Disney is ditching EMHs and are compensating by making sure the resorts are in tip-top shape, thus giving guests a reason to stay on-site*

Strong chance these are unrelated but by getting rid of one of Disney's main draws to stay on-site, they could be trying to boost the level and experience at the hotels to give guests value for staying on-site.

*Edit: My theory as to why Disney could be boosting its housekeeping.

Rumor or not as of 2/24/17 there are not any more pm EMH at DHS in the foreseeable future, it is to bad because the pm EMH at MK on Saturdays is gone now to, so only one at MK in the pm now on Wednesday! We always stay on site and this was one of our biggest draws, we are a mom and daughter team, (daughter is 17) so we really go all day and night. For us it is a drawback for sure!

OK, but we'll have to disagree on that. I think guests just expect housekeeping to be decent. That's one of the baseline expectations I have at a Disney resort. Personally, it would never enter my mind to consider it a tradeoff for losing an EMH. I view the higher nightly rate at a Disney resort a tradeoff for EMH and Magical Express.

I am going to remain hopeful that this is NOT the beginning of the end of all EMH in all parks. Personally, I do not think I would stay on property anymore if they got rid of this. There are too many less expensive options. We are going back for the 3rd time over 4th of July and we definitely make use of EMH during this high crowd time. On July 3rd we have LOVED the late EMH at MK, usually until 3 a.m. Now that my dds are older, we really enjoy this late night. We do all the rides we want, most anyway and it is one of the things we are looking forward to doing again this year, I hope! Anyway without any EMH, I would put the money I save staying somewhere cheaper towards spending time other than Disney. Not saying I prefer this option, but I think that is what I would do. But, I really can't imagine Disney getting rid of them all as I don't think I would be the only person to feel this way.

Sure, that might be the case, but it's not 2/24 yet, so we truly don't know for certain what Disney will do with DHS PM EMH after that date. Right now, anything anyone on here says is rumor and speculation. Nothing is confirmed, which is the point I was making.

Agree... but I do think the lack of nighttime EMHs would mean more time in the rooms or at the resorts and the lack of features or unkept rooms would be a bit more noticeable. IDK, it's a theory, albeit a farfetched one. The two are more than likely unrelated.

I usually have the Fantasmic Dining package and attend the first show. This time I will plan two evenings at DHS (hoping WDW will still have the Express Park to Park bus service for park hoppers), and will definitely try this strategy out!

You can probably pick up a last minute Fast Pass and get into one of the Dining Package sections for the late show. I've often seen FPs available right up until showtime.
