Has anyone eaten at Emerils? If so, how is the food and what is the atmosphere like? Are children welcome or is it more adult oriented? Thanks for any replies.

Thats certainly not what I wanted to hear. Thanks for the link. I guess Ill be going elsewhere.

I have never had a bad meal at Emeril's Orlando. The servers are always attenitive and polite. Food is great and we have brought my 5 year old niece there twice and had no problems. This is a restaurant that we can't miss when we go to Universal.

I have to agree with Mary and her husband. We have been there twice and we won't be going back. Okay food (but who wants just okay?) and crummy service.

Just to muddy the waters further...

We've eaten there twice, once for lunch, once for dinner. I think it's the best restaurant in Orlando, hands down. Because of the expense (not just dollars, but in time to get there and being away from Disney), we don't do it often. But we found the food great, the service untouched compared to other restaurants, and the atmosphere high class.

But I'll tell ya, if I'd read Mary's review first.....that's a lot of money if the meals are hit-or-miss and we just got lucky twice.

We went after 9/11 and it was a truly great great experience. We sat at the bar since we couldn't get a table. we had incredible food and even better service. We usally tip 20% but the barmaid/server got closer to 30%. She was amazing. We are spending the night we fly in for December trip at HRH just so we can go to Emeril's.

I've been to Emeril's twice. Too much spice for my taste. And I don't mean spicy. Just too much of everything....it's overwhelming.

Having said that, my friends adored it. So I guess it's all about what you like.

Service....not great but not terrible either. I think the waiters are overwhelmed and there's not enough communication between the waiters and the busboys/servers.

Thanks everyone. We will probably do it as we are going to do 1 day at Universal. At the very least Ill be able to tell everyone Ive been there.

I've only had great experiences at Emeril's and would recommend it to anyone. However, based on what you've read here, you could always take the boat from City Walk over to the Royal Pacific Hotel and check out Emeril's Tchoup Chop restaurant. Pacific Rim Fusion cuisine. I had lunch here, and the food and drinks were great! And the restaurant decor is stunning! It's also cheaper than his other restaurant at CityWalk.

We had decided to eat here during our trip in October. I printed a copy of the menu from the internet, the menu was very disappointing. We have decided to eat somewhere else

I cannot believe what some are saying....Are we talking about the same Emerils!!! My husband, son (age 7 at the time) and myself, ate in Emerils and I can honestly say it was nothing short of Fabulous!!!from the atmosphere to the service to the exceptional food....My husband is a chef and extremely picky when it comes to dining and he can't say enough great things about it....So sorry to hear others didn't have as wonderful experience as we have.....It had to be the BEST restaurant we've ever had the pleasure to dine in.
10 STARS.....

It is so interesting to read reviews that are so different. We went there for dinner a couple of years ago with our 2 DDs. The food was terrific the service awful, stuffy and snooty.....
and I really felt that the kids were not welcome, and we were treated a certain way because of the kids (my girls are very well behaved, and have really interesting taste in food, they love sushi, mussels all different thing). We had been to NOLA in New Orleans, and NOLA is much better.

It is very interesting to hear such diverse opinions of Emeril's. I have not eaten at the Orlando establishment but have heard wonderful things about it.

I love Delmonico's, Emeril's steak house in Las Vegas. The food, the service and the atmosphere are so wonderful, its one of my favorite restarants.

We ate at Emeril's in Orlando in November of 2000. Granted, a lot can change in that amount of time, but my DH and I really enjoyed our lunch, for the most part.

The entrees were amazing (mine was tortellini with veal--the fact that I still remember must say that it was pretty great). I also remember that the soup was oversalted so much that it was inedible. Service was very good too.

I also recall the bill--about $100. Pretty expensive for lunch--that was 2 glasses of wine, 2 appetizers, 2 lunch entrees and we split a dessert. Don't know if I'd go again, when there are so many other places we want to try. Got the bragging rights, which was a big part of it! ;)

It really is interesting to read people's thoughts on this restaurant. We have been to the Fish House in Las Vegas and think that is one of our favorites - interestingly, that too had very diverse reviews. Usually I encourage people to try a place and decide for themselves. Not this time.

We have eaten here twice - the first time in the atrium and we did the chef's special (served in courses with wine parings, similar to V&A's).

The second time, my DH called ahead and asked if there is a chef's table available. We didn't hear anything back. When we arrived we were asked to have a seat in the waiting area and brought a glass of wine, then we were taken back to the kitchen and had dinner right there where all the action is. The dinner was again served in courses, but the head chef and all the other chefs were responsible for serving their specialty course. It was incredible!

As far as children - I don't think there is a children's menu. There were two large parties with older children the first time we dined there. I don't think kids, six and under would have a very good time or older children if you have "picky" eaters in your family.

Thanks for everyones replys. Maybe we will wait until the kids are a little older for this one. They will be 8 and 11 at the time of the trip. Time to make new ps.

If you are going to change your PS, change it to Tchoup chop. While I haven't been there yet, we are going this June. I have 2 DD - 11 and 8. While I didn't think there was much they would enjoy at Emeril's, I found many things they would eat at Tchoup chop (based on the menus I have seen). Also, I hear the decor is faboulour! When I called for reservations, I asked if kids were ok. Then I clarified myself and said, "I mean older kids - not toddlers." He said "Of course! Kids of all ages are welcome!" That made me feel better. He really sounded like he meant it too.

We went to one of Emeril's restaurants in Las Vegas (not the fish house. The one in the Venetian). It was very fancy. My girls were angels that night (I actually asked them if they were really my girls or had they been taken over by aliens!) and we felt welcomed, but we also felt the need for the girls to be extremely good.

I will give my review when we get back. This is a surprise for my mother. When we saw the Food Network special on the making of Tchoup Chop, my mom said, "I wish we could go there." She thinks we are going to the Hard Rock!

We were there in January. We had a great meal and great service. I would characterize the restaurant as adult dining and it had a large number of people having a special evening (aniversary, birthday, etc.). It is definitely a fine dining establishment and you will see people dressed up.

We ate at the California Grill the same week, and the two restaurants aren't even close in service (based on our experience). Emeril's was so much better. At the CG we had a priority seating and had to wait an additional 60 minutes (this happened the previous two times we ate at CG). Emeril's, we walked in and our table was waiting for us.

At the CG we had a single wait person who was running from table to table and couldn't keep up. At Emeril's we had three different people servicing our table. They didn't intrude into the meal, but certainly you did not have to wait long for any request to be fulfilled.

Yes, at Emeril's if you looked at someone or scratched your nose the wrong way, someone would be at your table immediately to meet your request. One of the staff led the ladies to the restroom. Wouldn't want them to get lost.

I can understand how some folks would find Emeril's stuffy. If you have young children, CG is the better choice. Our bill at Emeril's was the same as California Grill. It's a no-brainer decision for our next trip.

Emeril's also has an excellent chocolate souffle!
