Did anyone else get an email from someone called 'InternetMarketing' regarding National's Emerald Club? It pretty much told me what I already knew about the procedures for renting the car... Did they used to not require a driver's licence or a credit card?

Here is the body of the email..

Dear Valued Emerald Club Member,

Thank you for choosing National Car Rental and enrolling in Emerald
Club.

We will be requiring you to present your driver's license and credit
card to the rental agent or exit booth agent for all rental
transactions. Your Emerald Club card will continue to identify you as
an Emerald Club customer and ensures that you will receive priority
service whenever you rent from National around the globe.

We look forward to serving you on your future rentals and remind you to
Go your own way.

I got it too. I assumed it was because I am a new member.

I am a new member too. Although I signed up about 2 months ago. That could be it though.

I got it too!! I used my EC when we were there in May and nobody looked at my license or creditcard. I'm renting again in July -- I wonder if it will be different. My Visa check card is my promary credit card on my account. I thought I would have trouble using it and have to go to a counter to pay with it at the end ( I do have another Visa). I buzzed right in and out. They did however ask for copies of the coupons or ads for the discount codes I used --- My Disney card was not enough. Good thing I printed both ads from the Disneyclub website.

the first time I used EA I had to show both my DL and my CC. the 2nd time I showed nothing. never got that email either.

The first time I used EA I had to show my credit card and license. My DW just signed up for the EC and she received that mailing last week also. We simply assumed that it was notifying her of the importance of having that documentation available for the gate agent. Seems like a good idea for National to verify the CC and DL numbers at least once for new EC members.

I just plan to hand the gate agent my EC card, DL, CC, Disney Club card, copy of the discount coupon (printed from the DC web site), copy of the program code page (printed from the DC web site), and a copy of my reservation confirmation with the quoted rates (I will keep a second copy of these last three items in case there is any problem with the rental rate). Does anyone know if you also need to give the gate agent the EC card for a second driver?

I just returned from Phoenix and used EA with National...they asked to see my DL, CC & National card. I used a coupon from the Disney Club, which they took from me but they didn't ask for the DC card (which I had ready!)
I made the ressie and it was my charge card but DH (who is also an EA member) drove the car to the gate...no problem he showed his DL also but they didn't ask for anything else from him.
