I wish I went dress shopping alone. After I bought my non-returnable dress, my shopping mate (best thing I can call her now) said, "And just think, you have WEEKS to make your arms look good for that dress."

Yeah, uhm, why couldn't you have said that before I bought the dress?

This is the reason you should watch "Say Yes to the Dress" on TLC. You may feel much better about selecting a dress on your own after you see how some of the MOBs and BFFs act. Sometimes I wish the bride would grow a pair and tell her mother or others to back off when they start up on her.

Oh my, that dress reminded me of something.
When my cousin was getting married, I missed the wedding shower due to being snowed in. When he dropped by my home a month later I brought out the wedding towel cake I had originally made for the shower. It took several minutes before his poor fiance realised I was not presenting them a month old wedding cake . The look of shock, then relief on her face was priceless.

i recently went dress shopping w/ my future sis-in-law. she moved across the country to be w/ my brother, so she has no family or friends here. we took pics and she emailed them to her sisters and mom. after she got some feedback from them and was able to look at the dresses on her, she made her choice. and it's BEAUTIFUL!

i def. recommend taking pics no matter what! seeing the dress on you in a pic, side by side w/ you in another dress really helps you see which dress is more flattering to your figure.

Sure. And it was the better experience.

I also went shopping with a 2 year old...my maid of honor was "fighting" with her child that day, and wanted to spend time alone rather than take her while we went shopping, so I took the child with me. She was a most excellent shopping partner, and told me to get one certain dress. I did not, but I should have. It looked AWESOME on me. The dress I got, that I could not get out of my head, didn't look that good.

When I actually chose my gown and took my MOH to see it, my MOH (who has a smaller chest and TINY waist no matter how much weight she carries anywhere else) *tried it on*.

Ugh.

If you go to any wedding gown salons snootier, er, fancier than David's, they probably won't want you to take pictures, just so you know.

Just go to the Disney store on main street, They have a lot of great disny dress there I think a new pair of ears will go great with a dress lol

Yay! Hope it works out..AND, if not perhaps you can meet 1/2 way and shop...I know you mentioned no time off from work but if another holiday 3-day weekend like we just had is an opportunity, go for it!
