Elliptical Machine

My easiest work outs are with my ipod up loud with fast pace - get you moving music  Enjoy.

ITA with this, load up your favorite fast-paced music on your Ipod, and it will really get you moving and FAST!!! :goodvibes

We have an ellipitical machine and when I haven't done it for awhile, I feel like I'm going to die after 5 minutes! Just try to add 2 minutes each time. I worked my way up to 20 minutes with no resistance before I started doing the programs.

I thought I was going to die too. My first times were about 5 minutes. It was disheartning when you see all these fitness experts tell you to get in a 20 minute workout a day. You've got to be kidding! I still never made it to a full 20 minutes with no resistance, before I had to quit the gym for a while. :( I know I'm going to be starting all over again when I go back in.

I found good, quick-paced music I love really helps the time go quicker. It's amazing how long 5 minutes can be on an Elliptical. :crazy2: I use disco music. It's a good, fun, upbeat, steady beat.

I typically don't like machines at all - I am FAR too A.D.D. to stand the boredom. I usually stick to group exercise classes. But when that's not possible, the eliptical is the only thing I can tolerate for long periods of time because it is fun. You can mix up the speed and incline. I challenge myself to do it without holding on, in order to engage the core a little bit, but that doesn't last long til I'm falling off! I read that doing intervals is the best way to get results and build stamina fast. I'll do 2 minutes at level 5, one minute at level 9, etc. and after 30 min I am done.

More than anything, IF the calorie counter on the machines is accurate, they burn calories like crazy! So good luck and have fun.

Mine has an Ipod jack, so I load mine up with TV shows off of DVD that I haven't seen. Each episode is 42 minutes or so, and it's the perfect length of time for me, and the only thing that keeps me from getting bored silly!

I'm an elliptical reader. With a good book, I can stay on it forever. With a lousy book, I'm counting the minutes down.

I often times hear the end of workout beep when I'm reading and think, "darn, it's the end." So that's my advice... get a good book and read while you pedal.
