Elisabeth Hasselbeck annoys me!

Here is what Rosie said
O’DONNELL: …… I just want to say something. 655,000 Iraqi civilians are dead. Who are the terrorists?HASSELBECK: Who are the terrorists?

O’DONNELL: 655,000 Iraqis — I’m saying you have to look, we invaded –

HASSELBECK: Wait, who are you calling terrorists now? Americans?

O’DONNELL: I’m saying if you were in Iraq, and the other country, the United States, the richest in the world, invaded your country and killed 655,000 of your citizens, what would you call us?

I dont' believe that she thinks our troops are terrorists, however, she sure as heck implies it in that quote. So, how did Fox spin it? They used the words directly out of Rosie's mouth.

Maybe she should be a bit more clear with what she is saying so that she doesn't have to worry about people taking it the way she did not intend it. Maybe she should be the one to explain what SHE meant instead of expecting other people to do it for her. She made the mess, she should clean it up.

Only if you parse her quote. The last part of her quote makes it damn clear she's saying that from the Iraqi perspective we'd be the ones considered terrorists.

Honestly, this thread disgusts me. What is it about this situation that causes people to be so hateful? You've got one person thinking that calling someone a "Fat, blow hole" is an appropriate and classy thing to do do. You've got another person using lines like " towering over her with saliva dripping from her fangs"

Half of the people in this thread are just as rude, bullying and as obnoxious as they claim either RO or EH are. What makes that okay? There's a little phrase about glass houses that seems appropriate.

Neither one of these women is the devil or a saint.

Funny how you only mention the comments made about Rosie... no never mind not funny... DOUBLE STANDARD

Right, she is saying that from the Iraqi perspective that we (Americans) would be called terrorists. Link that together with her first line where she is saying "Who are the terrorists". What is she implying now?

She asked who the terrorists where, then states that according to the Iraqi perspective the Americans are the terroists. I'm having a real hard time trying to pull "the administration" out of her quote.

She didn't mean to imply that the soldiers where, but most people would read that and believes she was saying that.

I agree, the name calling on both sides is immature and sad.

The name of the show is the VIEW. Where people, women ,give their views on many diffrent topics. They are all paid to give there view. Politics breeds nasty fights, on TV or in day to day life. Thats very apparent by this thread. If we dont agree with ones ways of thinking we attack that person, while the other person is defended. Anyone can find an excuse for anyones thoughts, words , actions if they want to. Words can be twisted and turned to support ones views.

This country and world for that matter will be a lot better off when we all snap into reality and learn to except each others views instead of trying to bully others into excepting our personal ones. Spin only works on those with closed eyes or ones that are turned away.

it's a shame though, that Rosie can't simply state her views and be done with it. She has to scream over everyone else, not letting them get a word in edgewise and keep it up over and over again.

Well Sha lyn maybe thats because there are no comments made about EH that are anywhere are nasty and vulger as these comments are, the OP of this states

"Half of the people in this thread are just as rude, bullying and as obnoxious as they claim either RO or EH are. What makes that okay? There's a little phrase about glass houses that seems appropriate"

The key in thre is RO or EH. They are talking about both.

I see no double standard there, they are accusing both sides of the fence of being a little mean spirited.

There are all kinds of people in this world, some are louder and less refined than others. I have heard all the ladies on that show talk over each other at one time of another. A NY accent is rough, especially a Long Island one. Makes people seem more obnoxious than if they didnt have one.

The thing of it is, it wasn't just FoxNews that "spun" this thing. Chris Matthew's Hardball on MSNBC had a whole segment on this and all three panelists AND Matthews himself agreed that she was implying that the troops are terrorists.

Those who throw out that FoxNews spun this is BS, IMO. (For the record, I realize that what I quote above doesn't disagree with this statement, but I was just using it to further reiterate my point)

So, how did Fox spin it? They used the words directly out of Rosie's mouth.

Week after week of "Has Rosie O'Donnell gone too far this time?" "Is Rosie O'Donnell a threat to our troops?" "Should ABC permit Rosie O'Donnell to continue to demean our young men and women overseas?" "Why is the mainstream media encouraging this blatant abuse of the airwaves?" Followed by "we report, you decide." Night after night after night.

MSNBC was in on it too (to the extent that they have any live programming anymore). But Sean Hannity was the worst, and precisely the person Elisabeth was kissing up to the most.

Are you just completely blinded by your hatred of Rosie? I used those two quotes because they were the two that stuck in my mind as being the most despicable. But I wasn't the one that labled them as being about Rosie or Elizabeth - you did that. Throughout my post, I pointed out repeatedly that that both of them, have made mistakes, and neither one of them is a saint.

Just about everyone one of your posts in the last five pages comments on the "double standard" you see. Yet when someone makes a genuine effort to be fair and even handed, you attack them anyway. It's funny that you dislike Rosie and her bully ways so much, the two of you have a lot in common.

repeat.. "if you were in Iraq who are the terrorists?" Think March 2003..shock and awe..terrorism? She has stated over and over she believes this administration are the terrorists, not the troops following ORDERS. You can disagree Bush is or isn't a terrorist (war criminal) but she never said the troops were terrorists..Watch the video from Monday of that week, please.

I realize that...I don't need to watch the Monday thing again. She was ambiguous in her statement, however, until she said something like "I don't believe the troops are terrorists." I mean, if I'm being perfectly honest, I never thought she meant that the troops were terrorists -- I always thought she was talking about the administration (how stupid can one be to say something like the troops are terrorists on national television -- Rosie's not dumb!). However, I can see how it can be misconstrued.

The point of my post was that Rosie was complaining about "Elizabeth's shows." It wasn't just "Elizabeth's shows" that were bashing Rosie. Other news stations - *cough*MSNBC*cough* - were doing it, too.

Oh, well. This incident will be forgotten in days and that'll be it. It was fun while it lasted.
