elevator noise at BCV, is it only the 2nd pool elevator that's bad?

i've been browsing old posts, reading people's trip reports of BCV.
and there have been a few complaints about rooms that are right next to the elevators being noisy - you can hear the motors or something.

i'm wondering if anyone would like to share their recent experience...
it seems like most of the complaints are about room#s in the 60s (566, 560), which are next to the 2nd "Pool elevator".
is that elevator perhaps more noisy than the "Main elevators"?

TIA.

We stayed in room 560 two Christmases ago. This one is a lovely large studio with an extended entrance area and a huge triangular balcony overlooking the quiet pool. The whole time we were there we heard a noise on and off and assumed it was water/pipe noise from the room next door. On our last night it occurred to us to look around the corner, where, to our surprise, we found the elevator! It was right under our noses the whole time and we didn't use it once. Although we heard the noise, it wasn't terribly annoying to us, though YMMV. I just wish we had known it was there. It definitely would have come in handy!

We were in 466 which is a one bedroom directly under this room and it didn't bother us either, but I do know it did bother someone else who stayed in the same room. I think it must depend on how noise sensitive you are. We were lucky enough to know it was there and used it often to get to the pool and parking lot. The front desk actually told us there was only one elevator but we knew differently from reading the posts.:earsgirl:

I stayed in 166 just a few weeks ago, and didnt' hear a thing. 166 is directly connect to the elevator on the living-room side. The TV was on most of the time we were in there but I didn't hear a thing!

Must have been an old problem!

We just stayed in #566, and were pretty aware of the elevator motor starting and stopping at all hours. It certainly didn't ruin our stay or anything like that. We were just aware of the motor noises, though we started to tune it out after the first couple days. :listen:

I stayed in #466 Feb 2003, and we switched rooms the day after check-in. It was loud to us, but it is each person's sensitivity to the noise that will determine whether they can tolerate it or not. Me, I couldn't. Maybe since that time they've found some way to insulate it and block some of the noise.

After all the money someone pays to buy in to DVC, I don't see why anyone should have to hear loud elevator noise, whether it bothers them a lot or a little. It's funny how you can hardly hear people talking in the hallway or in the room next door because they've done such a good job sound-proofing the rooms-except for that darn one next to the elevator!!

thanks for all the replies!

so, has anyone found the main elevator (by the Breezeway) to be noisy?
maybe that one is better insulated for less motor noise?
i think room#s x25, x27, or x28 are the closest to that elevator bank??

Not at BCV, but at AKL we had a room next to the stairs and elevators. First night we were excited and the noise was a little bothersome. Second night we hooked up a noise maker we forgot we brought and in addition to the fact we were tired we fell asleep hardcore and never heard another peep for the rest of the trip. And we ended up loving being so close to the elevators. Took a couple minutes to run down to the Mara for our refillable mugs.

I will always take a noise maker with me now.
I like the gentle rain sound. :)

We're noisemaker advocates too. With 3 kids, odds are that most of our noise comes from WITHIN the room, however! Seriously -- I find the kids just sleep better with it. We take it with us wherever we go. So bring on the elevator rooms!
