I am waiting on an electrician to call me back so I can get an estimate on some electrical work. in the meantime I thought I would come here and see if anyone could give me an idea of costs from your experience.

I have four outlets in the kitchen, 2 in the master bath, one in the guest bath and one in the half bath that need to be change to GFCI plugs.

I also need to have my outlet for my dryer a 220 moved from one wall to the opposite wall.

If anyone can give me ideas on the costs it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

I don't think the GFI outlets will be any problem for an electrician (my ex had done a bathroom outlet by himself without problems) and shouldn't be too expensive. The moving of electrical lines from one wall to another is a much bigger issue. That one may get expensive (I think drywall will need to be romoved/replaced and the walls repainted/papered) unless your laundry room is above a basement or drop-ceiling where the wiring can be handled fairly easily.

My husband says you only need one GFCI per circuit, so you shouldn't need to change out as many as you stated (unless you have that many circuits in each room). Switching the dryer outlet to another wall could be expensive, depends on the layout of your walls.

We own an electrical contracting company in Long Island, NY. The number of GFCI's you need is dependent on the code where you are located. It does not always go according to the number of circuits.

Switching the dryer outlet is hard to judge as it is a 220 line and we don't know the distance, layout or construction of the room.

We just had our entire kitchen re-wired during a remodeling (gutted the entire kitchen) and I don't know all of the costs, but I will recommend you get several quotes from licensed, insured and bonded electricians. We sub-contracted all of our work on our own and the quotes we received were all over the playing field! I highly encourage you to shop around.
