Electric Roaster vs. Crock Pot

Can anyone out there tell me the difference in cooking in a large electric roaster as compared to a crock pot/slow cooker? I have experience cooking in a crock pot but I have very little experience and/or knowledge when it comes to electric roasters. Does anyone out there have any knowledge on these two.

BTW I will be cooking for 50+

what are you cooking?

The roasters have a much higher heat than the slow cooker - even the low is pretty warm.
