So, CNN just said Obama is projected to get Ohio... Hes up to 194 electoral votes... How can they project so far ahead with only 16% of the votes in??? Anyone know????

They pretty much know that big cities like Cleveland and Columbus will go for Obama, and the rural areas will go to McCain. So once the counties that they are not clear cut report, they can pretty much tell who is going to win.

The races for NY State Senate and Assembly are extremely important this year. Gov. Paterson is pro gay/lesbian rights but the Republicans have been controlling everything for years. I read an article recently about how much money is being pushed into NY State to elect Democrats in the hope that we will be the next state with marriage rights. It's frustrating looking at the numbers in Florida and Arkansas but I'm really hopeful that change with come.

they just basically proved that it's over for McCain. He could win every last state except CA, WA, and Oregon and he STILL wouldn't win, and we all know CA, WA, and OR aren't gonna vote for McCain. CA polls close at 10pm and that's when I expect we'll see an immediate projection. It's only a matter of time till they call FL

I hear you OrlandoMike, but I can't help feeling even if Obama wins, if FL passes 2, we will somehow have lost more than we gained.

I so hope I'm dead wrong.

I have to work tomorrow too. So no huge party. But, I'll be home by the weekend, so keep the bubbly on ice.

they already called WI, but looking at the county by county map, I see counties who are voting Obama who voted strongly for the amendment we had. Perhaps that shows not all Dems are on the side of gay rights. That's why it's even more important that the next 2 years show us some major progress on our rights not just with marriage, but with DODT, DOMA, and the Matthew Shepard act. Our fight is not over and after Obama is declared the winner(just won NM btw) we need to get in touch with representatives and make sure they keep an eye our our prize.

That works for me!

I had mint in my back garden but it was taking over everything ... I think it's permanently gone now (thanks to the wonder of chemicals). But I did have some great parties with mint julips while it was still alive!

Is the verbage ambiguous? Is it possible that people don't understand? (Too late now, I suppose, I am just trying to understand.) I can't remember what the issue was on our ballot, but there was something where if you were FOR the thing you voted NO, if you were against it you voted YES. Is yours worded all backwards to confuse people?
It kills me to think that people are purposely that hateful.
