Today I was cleaning out my van and I found a package of steak that had somehow wound up under the seat!!

It was probably 3 or 4 days old ( cant remember exactly when I went to the store lol) TG its been cold out or it would have been really nasty!!!

That is gross!

A few years ago my car started smelling bad. We couldn't find a reason. It kept getting worse...finally DH found a package of ground turkey in the trunk. It's Texas weather, so it's hot almost all the time.

It must have come out of the grocery bag. It was horrible. We had to air the car out for days!! YUCK!!!

Oh my! I'm glad you do live somewhere where it's cold. That could have been really nasty.

My mom once had a jar of pickles roll out of the grocery bag while in the trunk, and then the pickles broke. It took a long time to air out that trunk.

Reminds me of the time DH forgot to put some chicken in the freezer and left it on a stool in the basment. It took us DAYS to figure out what stunk, even though he said he had gone to the basement to check things out.

I understand what you mean by Nasty. Ewwww.

A couple of months ago, I cleaned out our freezer in the garage, and I put some frozen bait my kids had been keeping in there in the trash dumpster, a few days later I realized that was a BIG mistake!!!! It was soooo gross, the neighbors were asking WHAT that smell was! I've never had a longer week waiting for the trash men to come! YUCK! I'm glad you are in a cold climate now, you could've had a really smelly mess!

Ugh yuck! I really do not like seafood myself, but once when we went to some restaurant SO got a Seafood Alfredo kinda thing, which he didn't finish and got in a to go box. Well I didn't want the smell in my car so I told him to put it in the trunk. We forgot about it for about 3-4 days. This was in FL where even in the winter it can be warm. The worst part was it tipped over and some of the stinky seafood alfredo sauce got on the trunk mat. I also have a foldable rear seat to access the trunk and it allowed the smell to travel through the rest of the car. It took forever for the smell to go away.
