Hey, one of our party who is normally healthy has a short term health issue that may impact our trip next week. I have never had to think about an ECV before. Now I do.

Does anyone have any links to threads with info and options? Where in the heck do you park these things when you go on rides? Are there official parking areas for folks who are able to walk through the queues? Do these have keys you use so someone else does not get on them and ride them away? What do you do with them at night? We are staying at GCV this trip.

Thanks!

You can read on the Disabilities board they may have more info there. I rent one due to knee issues. A CM will tell you where to park it when you go on a ride. Before going on a ride just ask CM's at the ride entrance and they will guide you. They do have keys however the keys are universal and can be used on most ECV's. I've only had one circumstance where my scooter got mixed up with someone else's so, it's not common. Make sure to put stuff on yours to make it look different than someone else's. Also rent from a reputable company that has insurance so, if something does happen your not financially responsible. I rent from Deckerts Surgical (714) 542-5607 they are highly recommended on the DIS. I have rented from them each time with no issues like battery not charging etc. At night you keep them in your room and you plug them in So, they will be fully charged the next day.

Also Deckerts delivers and picks up to/from your hotel so, you just get it from the bell desk I would assume and drop it at the bell desk on your check out day.

I use Deckert's. You pick up and return to Bell Services. You can charge it in your room.

In the park, you can park with the strollers, yes there is a key.

Yes to alot of your questions....ok so first I would recommend going with an outside company...the best is Deckerts...they will deliver to your hotel and be there ready for you...just go to the bell desk and ask for it...I always kept mine in my room in the corner out of the way and charged it up overnight...their telephone number is 714-542-5607...next...in Disneyland, it was not really built to be accessible for wheelchairs and ecv's so alot of them you will go through the exit especially in fantasyland...BTM, IJ, Splash, all those ...HM you can go through the front but just show your ecv key...which will come on a little stretchy wristband that you can wear while on the rides to keep from losing it....Soarin, Star Tours you have to get a fastpass from the cm to come back and you go through the fastpass line or at least part way and then they direct you down a different path...SM you go through the exit but there is a designated waiting area by the photos...at DCA you have to get a fastpass or if none available you can get it from a CM and go through most of the queues and then they direct you down a different path...in most of these rides there are spots right before you get on the ride to park and like on Screamin (or whatever its called now) they will move your ecv to the other side for you so you have it when you get off...otherwise, you can park it right outside the ride wherever you want..there is no designated parking areas...dont worry..nobody is going to get your ecv and drive away with it lol unless of course you leave the key in it...its not a honda HAHAHAHA...jk....hope this helps...if you have any other questions feel free to ask

I too have used Deckert's many times. When you call to reserve a scooter they will ask for full payment at that time.
I travel solo many times and getting the scooter in and out of the room is always a challenge.
Problem solved when a CM said I could park it outside my room, snugly against hallway wall by an outlet to charge over night.

The other perk of using an outside vendor, is using the ECV to and from the parks.

As you will see there are many many ECV's used in the parks. There will be times that a CM will move it like they do the strollers.
Then you are searching a sea of ECV's for yours. I have learned to take along a bright colored ribbon to tie to the handle. Makes it far easier to spot when it's been moved.

Just to be clear, for the last year, youget a return time added to your ticket media, all persons who are riding with you will need to have their ticket scanned. They haven't done the FP ticket thing in a few years

at DCA you have to get a fastpass or if none available you can get it from a CM and go through most of the queues and then they direct you down a different path...in most of these rides there are spots right before you get on the ride to park and like on Screamin (or whatever its called now) they will move your ecv to the other side for you so you have it when you get off...otherwise, you can park it right outside the ride wherever you want..there is no designated parking areas...dont worry..nobody is going to get your ecv and drive away with it lol unless of course you leave the key in it...its not a honda HAHAHAHA...jk....hope this helps...if you have any other questions feel free to ask
DCA is accessible, you can take the scooter with you for al rides. If you park outside and walk, leave it near the stroller parking. If you don't, it will likely be moved by CMs. And do take your key with you. There have been a rash of thefts of ECVs. Teens have been swiping them. I was warned by CMs at the DLH. Teens were sneaking into the bell area and taking off with them. They no longer leave the keys in them even there.

Thanks everyone. The person who may need the ECV will be fine standing in queues and walking short distances.

I appreciate the advice to leave the ECV in the hall way to charge. And the bright ribbon to ID the scooter.

There is a chance the person may not need it. We are hoping. :)

We stayed at the GCH back in October. On our road trip down, our daughter fell and had to have stitches on her knee. When we checked in, bell services offered us a very nice complementary ECV for her. They indicated they always keep extras around. I believe it was from Deckert's. You may be rolling the dice on availability, but I just wanted to share our experience.
