Hi all - I apologize if this has been answered a million times over in the forums. I couldn't find the answer on a search, and this is totally new territory for me! Also hoping for fast advice.

Currently at Disney with my amazingly wonderful mother - our first time together at WDW in over 23 years. We just finished our first day and I can see she's having a very hard time walking even the shortest of distances, and inclines of any kind are out of the question. I can see she's struggling - she has a slew of medical issues, and I feel dumb/neglectful for not seeing this coming. I guess I didn't realize it was quite this bad... when we spend time together, we do very minimal walking. :(

I dropped the idea of renting a scooter, and she seemed moderately receptive. What now? I know there are rentals available at the parks. WDW's site is extremely vague about this issue in general, and offers little guidance. The site linked out in the pinned post on this forum (WDWinfo.com, I think) says that Magic Kingdom rentals are at the Transportation and Ticket center. Is that correct? That seems extremely inconvenient, as it would require guests staying on-property to go from the gate backwards to the TTC, and then with the scooter travel back to the park.

I get that it would probably be more economical to rent a scooter offsite or do a week-of rental, but money is not an issue - I am willing to pay whatever necessary for my mom to be comfortable and our trip to be minimally impacted, and I see day-of rentals being the easiest for us, and won't require us to change our plans very much. Is there anything I'm not considering?

I apologize for the long post! I'm just a little stressed out, as we've been trying to plan this trip since pre-covid, and after many delays and navigating that which is the change and weirdness of WDW this summer, we finally made it happen.

tl;dr: At WDW. Mom is struggling to walk. Unfamiliar with ECVs and ECV rentals. Need to know where scooters can be rented at Magic Kingdom, and if there's anything I'm forgetting to consider.

MK ECV rental is to the right as you pass the turn style before you go under the train tracks. You can rent one at all of the parks and if you park hop, keep the receipt and show it at the second park. The WDW ECVs are very slow, just be aware.

This is exactly what I needed to know. Thank you so much!!!

I'm not concerned about speed, so the slowness is totally fine. My only concern is helping her get from point A to point B as painlessly as possible. :)

All park rentals are located within each park, not at the TTC or outside the gates. Park rentals are $50/day plus a refundable deposit. As PP mentions, if you hop just keep the receipt so you don’t pay again at the next park. And rentals are first-come first-served, and they do run out about mid-morning when busy. You can get a wheelchair and be put on a waitlist for an ECV if that happens.

Update: Got her in a scooter no problem! Super easy. Mom piloted like a champ and was able to hang almost all day! We switched at the last minute to do HS, and navigating ride lines was no problem. (RotR was our first of the day, and some of the turns in the queue were a little tight, but otherwise everything was a breeze.) I'm so happy I don't have to worry about her being in so much pain.

Thanks for the insight, all!
