First time posting a question on the disABILITIES board.

FIL is been through chemo and surgery and MIL thinks he may need an ECV to get through the parks. However, she's not sure if he'll need it ALL the time, or just on those longer days.

I know Disney rents them out, but I've seen that they have a limited number of them. We are going to be there Dec 9-16. We like to do one park in the morning, break and another park in the afternoon/evening. Is it common that in the later afternoon, that al ECVs could be rented out and we'd be up a creek at this time of year?

I have looked into renting one for the week, but just want to gather all the info I can before presenting it all to MIL so she can decide what she wants to do.

Thanks.

I would probably rent off site just to be sure it would be available when needed. There have been times when none were available. It can be very frustrating. I've even been there on days that no WC was available.
That said the first part of December is usually a slower time.

There is a strong possibility, any time during the year, that a park will be out of ECVs by early afternoon. Also, depending on where you stay it might be useful to have the ECV available at the resort. Some of the resorts, especially WL and AKL have very long corridors.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. The fifth item down is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, including where people rent ECVs.

Cheshire Figment--

I already read that link and got some great information. I just wanted to see what people's thoughts were on Disney renting out all ECVs

We are renting from offsite this year because ECVs are usually not available in the afternoon when we return to the parks. We go in the off season - Dec, Jan, May - and have no problem getting ECVs if we arrive at the park within an hour or so of opening, but when we return in the afternoon, after a hotel break, we Disney is usually out of ECVs.

Question: Any of you who have rented from Randy's Mobility...do they have a cancellation policy? I didn't see one in the FAQ section on their website.

I don't know Randy's policy, but when I rented from Walker they would charge my credit card the day prior to arrival. If I had to cancel (which never happened) as long as I would give them at least one day's notice there would be no charge.

The only reason I could conceivably see for charging if you cancel is if they had turned away potential customers becuase you had booked an ECV and they were unable to rent it out. And I would expect this to be more in the anture of a no-show rather than an advance cancellation.
