Economy class - how long to clear security?

I know this is one of those how-long-is-a-piece-of-string questions but the flight upgrade prices are silly this year and I am not willing to pay what has been quoted for a PE seat. Having been spoilt in the past I wondered how much longer it takes to clear security at MCO without the priority disembarking.

It all depends on how many other planes have landed at the same time as yours, and how fast you can get off the plane and run to immigration

Forgot to say at immigration - go to the far right lane, as when the us citizens have gone through , they call you forward to use that lane

Yes go to the right and also when all the disabled passengers have gone they open up that for us cattleclass Takes about 30 mins from getting off the plane.Was not much longer than When I went PE. Its pretty quick anyway.

Always? That's a good heads up, thanks! I would have thought it was only for US passengers. Don't they all need to get through there before they start calling the foreigners through that side?

It is good as there obv aren't as many US citizens/cabin crew that need to pass through and there are still alot of people that don't know about this

Yes, finally the penny dropped I realised that domestic flights in the US would not require the passengers to go through passport control .... duh!! And tomorrow is Monday

Tiggs I always over estimate. When I flew PE took just as long as all had new passports as daughter spilt coke over them so hence we all got stopped.

We got through last week in about 30 mins. Last year it took about 1 hour.
As others say depends on what other flights have landed and the number of desks they have open

It varies a lot, we once waited over an hour (and we were flying PE) because all the computers went down! Not that they bothered telling us what was going on, we just stood there. Had we chosen a different queue we would have got through before it all went bottoms up

Yes to all of the above.

But to be honest we have also found that on the rare occassions that we manage to get through in a decent time we end up waiting ages for the bags anyway

Yes, I have experience that one, lol!

It was a stupid question and I pretty much knew it at the time but hoped there might just be a bit of consistency so I could work on something. I have made DDs surprise announcement for our meals for the first night to include DTD which is so nice for arrival day. But this year going from Glasgow we land at about 6 pm - almost four hours later than the usual one from Manchester so I was trying to work out whether, before it is too late, I should remove all reference to DTD.

I am aiming to take my own bags on the monorail so we can go straight to ME which may or may not give a head start getting to the resort, which I estimated not before 8 pm.

I just don't want to put ideas into her head if it is completely impractical.

I have found when we arrive that late we want a quick bite to eat, I'll unpack and then off to bed - this is usually due to us getting up at stupid o'clock in the UK (which translates to even stupider o'clock US time ).

I think international arrivals have to take their luggage now (I know for our Dec trip we won't get any documents/luggage tags) for ME and then you can just have the driver put it under the bus for you (we prefer this as you may find it can be delivered to your room quite late)

I'd leave it flexible, if you feel up to it go to DTD but if not stay at your resort and eat there. I know when we've tried to do too much on arrival day it doesn't usually end too well It's not good to be grumpy before the first full day

True. Last year I managed to keep DD up until about 11 pm (EST) . It was perfect, because we got back to our resort, and she literally flopped forward onto the bed and stayed in that position all night (I just managed to take her shoes off and cover her). But the great thing is we were up at 6 am the next morning and felt great - all ready for rope drop or am EMH!

I thought if I allowed 3 hours from landing to arriving at DTD I should be okay as all we would do is get somthing to eat and walk around if we want to then back to bed (staying at POFQ so not as far as ASMu last year).

So do you think that 3 hours is unreasonable then or at least, cutting it way too fine?

I would allow 4 from landing to be on the safe side.Grabbing your luggage will be agreat time saver as last time we didnt get our luggage till 23.30 Will never do it again will collect ourselves.
Anyway go with the flo tiggs. I have a big adrenalin rush when I get there too and want to go off and do things but then I end up not sleeping and am shattered the next day so will just stay around the hotel this time.

Thanks. I am a bit of a go with the flow when I am there - sort of. Basically it is a case of accepting that there will be things you have no control over and if your plan A doesn't work, just enjoy the experience. I actually learnt this myself from trying to teach my DD not to fret when things don't work out so when we miss a bus to a park for example we hi 5 each other and say "Let's beat this - we're the Disney Adventurers". Funny, it works

Anyway, I do collect my own luggage to take to ME. The big delay for me is waiting for it to arrive at the 2nd baggage reclaim and that is the point I want to try and take it with me (i.e. haul it up the escalator). That alone can save 30 minutes.

welanded at 2.30 and arrived at pors at 5ish, the time to go through customs, then we waited ages for ME as they send the longest line on the next bus, iykwim.
our son then puked (too tired) at boatrights and had no clean clothes for him as bags arrived after 11, by which time dh and i were climbing up the walls with fatigue, despite "sleeping" on the way there for a few hours...i guess i was just too damn excited
go with the flow, the cs at pofq is amazing, and they do fantastic beignets, my advice, for what its worth, would be eat at the resort then go to dtd when chilled.

I love getting your 2p worth (I think it's worth much more than that ).

The ME bag delivery is not an issue for me because, as I mentioned, I won't be waiting for bags (I pack very little in hand luggage for practical reasons so I want our things when we get to the room). This is really a case of arriving at the resort at a reasonable hour. Maybe I'll leave DD's menu as is and let her decide based on how she feels. (It's the one posted on my Woohooo thread). I am just concerned that she will opt to go with tradition regardless. Never mind - there is still time. I didn't know how spoilt we've been with getting off first and priority baggage on PE. Remind me to be more thankful in future.
