Anyone stayed here in the last couple of years? I remember someone posting about the Econolodge Hawaiian but a search turned up nothing for it or the Poly one.
I am thinking of maybe doing a quick trip down in mid-late May if Soaring and/or the motor stunt show open up by then. I have 3 days left on a PH and a couple of plusses on a PHP, so my only costs will be hotel, room, car and food. I will have to fly (not enough time to drive - 550 or so miles each way), so I need a dirt cheap room and rental car (I am going to Vegas in October so I don't have much cash to spend on this trip!). Anyway, HotelMartUSA has the Econolodge Polynesian for $31/night for 3 nights beginning 5/19. W/ taxes, I'm guessing it will be about $37/night. Anyone have an experience w/ this place? Their website says it underwent a Million Dollar Renovation, but who knows when that happened?
It's at the intersection of 192 and Polynesian Isle Blvd, so it's not too far from WDW. I have not checked Trip Advisor yet, but I don't believe at least half of what I read there.
My main concerns are safety and a relatively clean place to lay my head.
To stay onsite and avoid the rental car and parking fees, I'd have to probably be able to get a value room for around $73 tax included for equivalent money. Even w/ a code, don't think that will happen in May!
If airfares don't come down a little more to less than $120RT, the whole question is moot. I thought there was supposed to be a big fare war starting??? Sure wish SWA would come out w/ those $39 each way from RDU like they had last year!
TIA!
EDIT: just saw on Easy Click Travel that I can get this hotel for $29 and change tax included. Hmmmm ... do I take the chance???
