EBTA 2014...Across the Atlantic we go!!!

Dare I say too close:eek:? This is the time I lie awake worrying myself. Lasts till I get onboard the plane or cruise ship:laughing:.

Hi all!

My DM and I are thinking about taking this cruise (just trying to finalize some scheduling for the upcoming months). We have cruised a lot in the past, but never on DCL and are interested in taking part in a FE group. Have those groups already been finalized or would we still be able to join/how late could we join?

Thanks, y'all! We think it would be a great cruise to go on!!

We leave 6 weeks on Wednesday.:scared1: Still have car hire and a couple of one night hotels to book.

For Car hire try rental car.com and for holes I have been using trivago.com, the .com bit is important it makes a much better deal for us in the UK.

I just counted and I am down to 58 days can't wait for some sunshine and siting by the pool pre cruise with a good book. I won't be long until the tickets arrive!

Is anyone waiting to book the EBTA in 2015, that's going to be an interesting route! It could go southern via the Azores region or it could go eastern sea board then Canada, Iceland and then Copehagen (which is a beautiful city)

Thanks for that Steve. We will have a look. How do you find booking with all the different taxes? If we book with a UK site it is all included and sometimes the Companies abroad try to get you to add all kinds of things you don't need?

For the hotels on trivago.com what you see is what you pay, except in dollars. I use my Halifax Clarity Credit Card and get a perfect exchange rate about 1.66 today.

As for car rental, I use rental cars.com they include good rates and I generally get good one way hire from PC with them, no additional charge or taxes, simply the tax paid where the car is being rented from.

Roll up ... Roll up! Who's in for the alcohol tastings?

Originally the possible sessions proposed were Martini, Mixology and Tequila/Margarita. I am awaiting information on actual cost/options from DCL, previous prices have been approx $15 per person.

As I understand it we need at least 20 participants to make each session possible, times/dates will be finalised within the 30 day window when DCL will confirm the possibilities for us.

Everyone needs to resubmit their information! Please register interest by private message either here or on Facebook stating which session you would be interest in, providing the names of participants, stateroom numbers and Dis name.

:drinking1

Bumping for anyone that cares to join, please pm me here or on Facebook.

We need a couple more people to make the Martini and Tequila Tasting happen :drinking1

Good afternoon.
I am starting to get pretty excited about this cruise. I am travelling with my husband and my 4yo daughter. We will be taking this cruise and then completing the 7night Med immediately following.
I have cruised twice before with DCL, but am now wondering about the Fish Extenders, as my daughter is getting old enough to be interested. How does one go about becoming involved with those? HELP!
Thanks, looking forward to seeing you all on board. I can't wait! I'm finishing classes in a few weeks and then will be in full vacation mode!

Thought I would let everyone know that I was on the DCL cruise activities site today, and noticed they have added two additional port adventures in Madeira.

We thought the options in Madeira were pretty limited so, seeing these lifted our spirits.

I signed us up for the "Discover East Madeira" tour. It's the one that's family friendly (for kids and adults). Right now it only seems to appear on the "Cruise Activities" booking part of the DCL website. It's not yet showing up in the overall "Port Adventures" part of the DCL website.

They have also added "Referta Levada Nature Walk". I actually did the levada walk on last years EBTA. I think this is a different tour, however, as the distance is a bit shorter than last years. It was great fun, though, if you want to really get out and stretch your legs after 6 days at sea! Information about this tour is located on the DCL Port Adventures website.

My mom and I just made the booking for this cruise!

We are very excited. This will be our first Disney Cruise and our first Transatlantic cruise. We've been on Holland America, Princess, RCL, Norwegian, Celebrity, and Carnival and we are excited to be trying something new!

Can't believe how close the trip is! Looking forward to meeting everyone!

So excited for our 2nd cruise, and 1st EBTA! It will be me, my husband, and our little bun in the oven (14 weeks the day we leave). And my in-laws will be joining us as well in their own cabin. Look forward to meeting you all!

Sorry, but facebook is NOT an option for us. We have had Internet privacy issues in the past, so we don't do any social networking.

If that's our only option to communicate, then we aren't going to know about any activities. We are signed up for FE, but have not heard word one about them ever since.

We also do not do facebook. Will we miss any communications by not having FB? Or will with their be an email sent out to the group or anything?

:welcome: don't worry most info is on here.

Facebook is much more active as it's convenient for most, I know someone is working on a navigator for everything that's going on but I'll try to post some info or encourage event organisers over to repost ;)

I'm organising some alcohol tasting sessions if anyone cares to join.

Mixology on 22nd May still has a few spaces in both groups 2-3pm & 4-5pm

Tequila/Margarita on 24th May at 2-3pm

Martini on 25th May at 2-3pm

There is a post a few back about an open bar event also I know there is a Pub Crawl being organised for 21st May at 1pm, the organisers are still sorting details and will post soon. WVUrunner is organising a workout/running club planned for 8:30am some days. Gramfrog is organising the meet n greet on 19th May at 3pm. sasmmb is organising a scavenger hun on 22nd May at 1:15pm.

Hope that helps, I'm sure there will be more information soon enough. Really looking forward to meeting everyone :beach:
