GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Help-anyone know if we will have time to get to Ft Lauderdale for a 12:45pm flight home to Denver after the cruise. I want to book our flights but want to make sure this timeframe is doable. Also, I read early on on this thread about shuttle from port to Ft. Lauderdale, any info would be great!

Someone posted they are leaving earlier than you, so 12:45 should be totally do-able. It's roughly a half hour from port to FLL, and we should be off the ship well before 10 am.

Thunderstorms all night here. I hope we got some rain with them.

Annual "squeezing" this morning - i'm SO looking forward to that. NOT.

Happy Day, all!

No rain here...lots of wind, dark clouds and lightning, but not one drop of rain. I was out on the beach with a photographer friend taking pictures of the sand and watching the storm roll by north of us. I took some great pictures of the waves and the clouds myself!

Enjoy the squeezing. It's not fun, but is essential. Mine was done in May, and I think I've just about recovered LOL!!!

What did you decide about the Canada cruise?

Beth

Hola mi amigos! Anyone else looking to brush up on their spanish before this trip? I use to work in a restaurant for 8 years and my spanish was pretty good for a white girl thanks to the cooks! I haven't used spanish on a daily basis for nearly 10 years so I need to reteach myself. Anyone have a book they can recommend to help me with this process?

Probably not going. :(

Since we are doing weather reports...:offtopic::)
2.5 inches of rain here last night, in ONE hour! :scared1:

Holy MOLEY! That's a LOT of rain!

Google "learn spanish on line" I found a pretty basic interactive Spanish lesson website before we went to Spain last year. it was fun. Trouble is - when we got to Spain, in Barcelona, they speak Catalan. So I STILL didn't know what was going on:rolleyes2

Hi everyone...we just got back from a week in Miami along with a short 3 night Carnival cruise...so I know a little more about the Miami port. First of all, though, after having just done Carnival, I know we are going to appreciate Disney even more. Let's just say that was probably our last Carnival cruise in our future. Dh and I always found ourselves saying to each other "disney does this so much better"! Anyway, the info that comes to mind for the port is that we rented from Budget...for the week in Miami we rented from the airport in Fort Lauderdale and returned it to the port location. They DO NOT have a shuttle to the port, but the cab ride ran us $12 to get to the port. On the return, we again rented from Budget but luckily for us, DH's cousin took him to the rental office to pick up the car, so we didn't have to pay for the taxi. The one way rental back to FLL only cost us $41 including taxes (for an intermediate car)! There is a Westjet code (I think I found it on the transportation board) that brought the price down so much! There were also a ton of taxi's waiting, so that would not be a problem if you are going that route. There were also many different shuttles there as well seeing if anyone needed a ride. I think it took about 30 - 45 minutes for them to clear the ship, and it took us about 1/2 hour to get through customs. If you have any other questions, I will do what I can in answering them.

DD has Spanish on her school schedule this fall - I plan on letting her do all the talking for us :rotfl2: I'm sure we will be able to ask where the restrooms and the malls are :cool1:

I just told my kids that they will be learning some spanish before we go too. My oldest ds said he doesn't want to so I told him that I will make him order his dinner in spanish or he won't get any! :lmao: He loves to eat so I am sure he will learn some key phrases. I'm hoping we'll have one of our favorite servers who is from Cartagena!

We are at Disneyland now. We are traveling with a large group with 5 kids under 6. Chaos but fun! We opted to use a guide thru Disneyland today. Very pricey but worth every cent. I highly recommend it for those of you who are coming a day ahead of our cruise to stop at Disneyland. I can provide information if you send me a personal message. (if I figure out the pm system). :wizard: Sherry

Linda, you should come to my house! We have lots of dust around here. My daughter wrote a message with her finger on the top of the piano this morning.

I just got the free sample for my Nook! I understand a lot of Spanish because a lot of the clients where I work speak it, but I can't say more than "Where do you live", "Where are you going?", "Where is the garden" and "Where is the bathroom?" I guess I should learn just a little bit more?

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

That sounds like fun - but not for me:crazy2: :rotfl2:

I think I need to go find a job. So bored yesterday I was driven to DUST!:scared:

Happy Day, all!
After the morning I've had today, I'm about ready to say you can have my job!!!!

Beth

What do you do? Although it would be quite a commute for me to Jersey.;)
I do whatever I'm told to do:rotfl:! I work for the local government as a Program Analyst. I'm kind of an accountant most of the year (what was aggravating me today), and during the summer I also work with the Special Events Department setting up all kinds of events like car shows, concerts and outdoor movies. That's the fun part of my job. I get to meet lots of interesting people, like some of the music stars and heartthrobs from my teens. Some of you will remember people like Peter Noone, Little Anthony, Gary Puckett, etc. This month we were supposed to have Lou Christie, but he was taken to the hospital the day before the show.

Most days my job is just fine, and I have a wonderful boss. Today was one of those days when the job was not quite so fine!

Beth

PS: I guess the commute might be just a bit too long for you.;)

Anyone notice one of the Royal Suites has opened up for our cruise? Only $18,110.08 for a family of four. With the onboard booking discount that works out to $16,379.68.

Surely one of you wants to pick up the tab so the rest of us can stop by for the cabin crawl, right?

:rotfl:

I'll have to see if the wife is willing to drop the IGT rate to move up a few levels.

*sigh* Someday. Champagne taste - kegger budget. Fortunately I'm thankful for what I have and will be :cloud9: just to be on board.

No lie! And they definitely wouldn't want me as their accountant:headache:

No Walt suite for me - we had the room next door on my first cruise and the "waddle" of the ship bothered my head in a way that never happens on lower decks in inside cabins.

Whew! Finally have read every single post in this thread. Now to get back to planning.

You guys and gals are great. Thanks for being nice to us lurkers in the crowd.

I have been looking into renting a car and found that Alamo (MIA airport only) has a free shuttle to Port of Miami.

Also the all electronic toll roads were a bit of surprise this past winter, no cash and hefty administrative charges if you get on without paying for the toll pass. We will most likely pay for the SunPass (Pass24) since we are going to Orlando from the POM.
