. Just 10 miles away (and definitely the nearby city where we do all of our shopping), it's much hotter as the elevation decreases.
), I don't do heat well. Grew up in TN but have lived in the great NE longer than I lived there...and I don't "glisten" like a lady, I "sweat" like a beast (maybe not that bad, but I don't look good with a red, flushed face, and running makeup!)
But there is no beating TX in the winter
, but I do miss having a little one around. Another reason I enjoy the DCL cruises....just love seeing the little ones' faces when they see the characters! We still have 91 yr old MIL up here to "manage", and only DH is retired at this point, so it will be awhile...but we do try to visit Austin at some point during our colder monthsWell, Pat, you can always WINTER in Texas! My cousins from Vermont do, and they say it's lovely.
. Last year was the first Christmas we've ever spent at home...always went to TN (or TX the past few years). Did the WBTA in Sept. with some of the TN gang and Jess, and planned TX trip the end of Feb., so decided to stay home in-between.

At the risk of boring most of the people on this thread...We have lived in the Austin area since 1979 and we love the area. It has a real "college town" feel to it even tho the college has over 50,000 students. We recently bought a second home in Houston where all 7 grandkids and their parents live. It has the feel and all the problems of a major city. But it also has the cutest 7 kids you have ever seen.

) until DD moved there to accept a job offer 4.5 yrs ago, but it's become our favorite city to visit (and not just to see her
). For a large city, it's surprisingly easy to navigate (ok, maybe not during rush hour on 35, but the rest of the time). I love the diversity of the people and the "funkiness" of the shops and restaurants. DH has a "Keep Austin Weird" mug that he uses all the time; he loves the music scene. We're the type that really like to get to know a city, so we enjoy getting Groupons, Living Social deals, etc. before a visit and introducing DD to places she would never find otherwise. She thinks we're a bit nuts at times, but that's nothing new!

North Korea....that's interesting. Wonder what they're importing/exporting and to where? I'll have to googleGood Evening Fellow Cruisers,
We set sail in 17 weeks less one day,
that is 118 sleeps!
Did you know?
The Canal transports 4 percent of world trade and 16 percent of total U.S.-borne trade. The United States uses the canal the most, followed by China, Japan, Chile and North Korea.

She will be teaching at a school in 6th of October, just outside of Cairo. She is going through numerous feelings right now. I keep on reminding her that it will be Christmas before she knows it and she will be home for 2 weeks. And that she will have a great time with her girlfriend that has been there for 2 years, and the other girls she has met on line. I am now starting to feel guilty going on the cruise instead of traveling to Egypt.Where in Egypt is DD going? We had an Egyptian exchange student a few years ago. He now attends university there. Someday we will visit him!
Hopefully this is a correct fact. Did you find anything?North Korea....that's interesting. Wonder what they're importing/exporting and to where? I'll have to google![]()
Sorry for the delay in my post. I was in NJ for the weekend. I thought the hotel would have free internet. Well it did not. We bought 24 hrs. worth, and I got up nice and early on Sunday morning, just to discover I did not know my DH's password for his computer, and I did not bring my computer and he was sound a sleep. By the time he got up, and we had breakie etc. etc. the 24 hrs was up. I got up this morning, and checked the bill and saw that we were charged for 2 days of internet. I was ready to complain, just to find out DH bought more internet time. Of course, I discovered we had internet after the bags were packed and we were headed out the door for our 12 hr. drive that should take 8 hrs. Anyway, we are home safe and I have internet access again.
I bought my supplies for FE, and I can get started. All I need is a design.
I started my cross stitch that I plan to bring on the cruise for our "knitting circle" time. It is a Thomas Kinkade, Cinderella Wishes Upon A Dream. I am projecting that it will take 120 hrs to complete I hope to be 75% complete by the time I get on the cruise. Okay, maybe 25% completed.
Have a great week everyone. The next few days will be hectic with my DD on her way to Egypt on Sunday.
but at least you're home and wired again. Can't wait to see your cross stitch - it sounds beautiful and you call me a 'romantic', but I love Thomas Kinkade.MOST kids think their parents are nuts, right?. . . . She thinks we're a bit nuts at times, but that's nothing new!![]()

Not much, really. Yes, it's an accurate stat, but not much info specific to NK. I did receive an education on shipping routes, thoughHopefully this is a correct fact. Did you find anything?

Yesterday, I went craft shopping with my friend and then came home to work on a 'trip journal' scrapbook that I think I will use on this trip. Does anyone out there scrapbook?
Not only do i scrapbook Lindababe - I own a scrapbook shop! Mind you, since I opened the shop I have no time to scrapbook - bizarre, but true. I spend most of my time shopping for the shop!
Trying to decide what to do at each port - has anybody been to the Chacchoben ruins in Costa Maya? Are they worth seeing? We want to experience a bit of "culture" while on the cruise and not spend the whole time relaxing...yes, we're officially crazy!![]()
She is comes home Dec. 23 for two weeks. We get home Dec. 26, so we will have lots of time together, then it will be the next 6 months that may be hard for her. Her boyfriend may go over to visit. I would be nice if someone went in April during her spring break. Is she coming home for Christmas?
