ebay vacation rentals and II getaways

if ou plan to stay a week, particularly in the shoulder/off seasons, incredible bargains can be found for many popular orlando resorts (e.g., marriotts, vistana, star island, wyndam palms in the vacation rentals branch of the travel section at ebay. most of these are sold by owners who can't use their weeks. and there appear to some sellers who get access to units for resale, particulary in the slow season. i have bought and sold weeks on ebay without a problem. just make sure that you are dealing with a seller that had good feedback.

also, if you are a member of II, don't forget the tremendous deals that can be found in their getaways, for slow-season weeks. for example, many two bedroom resorts are now a total $334 (including taxes) for a full week. i just booked a two bedroom in the lakes/cascades section at vistana for 12/13-12/20 for this price.

plus shopping ebay and II is great fun while i'm having coffee in the morning...sometimes a deal is so good that an impromptu trip is in order. and sometimes, even hard-to-find weeks become available, generally at a very reasonable price.

ebay also has a lodgings branch that deals more with hotels. i've not done the hotel stuff. generally, much better deals can be had for a stay of a week and i like a trip length of a minimum of a week.

I got a good deal (I hope) for this November at HH - in the Marriott's Grande Ocean Resort - I hope the weather holds.....on the II getaways.

there was a time when you could get the Marriott's a 1-bedroom for $229 (the studio were $199) - but the Marriott's sale people finally realized that they were not going to sale any timeshare if II was renting them below cost (maintence fees) - but it was really great while it lasted.... I think the studios are still a good price for a Marriott.
