The Collier County Sheriff's Office today identified a second Collier resident wanted for questioning in an alleged scam using the eBay auction Web site.
Authorities said they are searching for Shahnoza Khakimova, 31, as part ofan investigation in which more than 200 people say they were scammed.
Officials identified Alisher Mardonov, 34, as a person wanted for questioning on Tuesday.
The Sheriff's Office said Khakimova is the girlfriend of Mardonov, who lives at 1765 Courtyard Way, #205, in East Naples. Both are believed to be Uzbekistan citizens who live and work in Collier.
Authorities said buyers paid for eBay items by money order or personal check, sent to the East Naples address. Buyers say they never received their purchases and began contacting eBay and the Collier County Economic Crimes Unit on Saturday to complain.
A nationwide notice has been sent to law enforcement agencies, alerting them to be on the lookout for Mardonov and Khakimova and their vehicles. The Sheriff's Office is looking for a 1996 white Chrysler four-door with Florida tag F09-KSP and a 2001 silver Mercedes four-door with Florida tag C14-6IN.
The Sheriff's Office is working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement to determine their immigration status. Authorities aren't sure whether Mardonov and Khakimova are still in the area.
Anyone who believes they are a victim or has information about Mardonov and Khakimova is asked to contact Collier sheriff's detective Panayiota Kotokis at (239) 774-8033 or
