Ebay Help.

Hi all

Well I took the plunge and started selling on Ebay. Many Disney Trips I needed extra funds... So far I was doing great! Sold a Costume on Sept 7. Mailed it out on Sept 8th. Person took Insurance, and I have the Insurance and Recipts.
She just Emailed me she hasnt recived it yet! What do I say? Do?
I will be honest with you all. Before this Ebay started, I never stepped foot inside the post office before in my life!
What do I say to her? What Do I do next! Im so new at this Neg Feedback would be BAD!!

How did you ship it? Priority Mail should be there by now, Parcel Post won't be.
Do you have a tracking number? I think you have to have one with insurance.
Does she live in an area affected by Katrina? Do you? That will delay shipping.

I would email her back, tell her that you will contact the post office tomorrow and have them try and locate it. Keep up the contact with her and let her know the steps you're taking.

Did you accept paypal as payment?
If you accept paypal you MUST use delivery confirmation on ALL items you ship.

If a buyer claims they didn't get their item and files for a refund with paypal the only way you can prove to paypal you mailed it is with Delivery Confirmation.
If you have no valid delivery confirmation number paypal will most likely give the buyer a refund. Insurance does not prove anything to paypal.

Hopefully, that won't be the case with your transaction.

I find there are more and more shady people on ebay who hope to take advantage of newer sellers.

She paied via PayPal. She choose Parcel Post and she paied for Insurance.
Im in NY, and She is in Texas..
I hope this works out!!

Oh for sure Parcel Post from NY to Texas can take a couple weeks. I would ask her to please be a little more patient and give it a few more days. I have a feeling it will show up this week. If not then persue the insurance claim at the post office..

I usually ship DHL / FED EX or UPS they usually deliver anywhere in US and Canada within 3-4 days, the price includes $100.00 of insurance and you have a tracking number and proof of delivery. It is a bit more money -- but worth it in the long run. PROTECT YOURSELF

Parcel post is a SLOOOOW boat anywhere in US - unless you are in same state. Expect to take 2-3 weeks. I would remind the buyer she choose that mode of shipping and est, delivery is that long.

If you want to use US postal service in future - ship PRIORITY with Delivery Confirmation , any insurance would be an additional charge but at least you'll have a better delivery time , usually Priority is only 1.00 more than Parcel post and saves you a few weeks.

You can also buy Delivery Confirmation with Parcel Post shipping (it's 55 cents rather than the 45 cents for Priority).

Insurance won't provide a tracking number unless the item is insured for more than $50.

For smaller weight items, the parcel post rate is usually close to the Priority rate. However, if you're mailing a heavier item or an item that has a large number of shipping zones difference, the price can be quite a bit different between Prioroty and Parcel Post.

Also, from what I understand, parcel post does not use planes for shipping. Also, if the package was routed through the New Orleans area, that could explain the delay as well. I've read parcel post can take from 2-6 weeks to deliver. I was surprised & wasn't aware of that. As a suggestion, I'd always use Priority Mail. As a seller with close to a 700 feedback, I only use Priority{unless it's a very small item, then I use first class}.

Thank you all for the suggestions! She got the package today! I was so worried It was a Hand made costume I wore at Disney 2 years ago, and She paied what I thought was too much for it. It was a very VERY simple costume. But she emailed me She got it and LOVES it! Thanks again all!
